I may be wrong but I am under the impression that Melatonin is only available by prescription in the UK, it certainly was but may have changed. I think there is still work to be done to confirm that it increases bone density. A lot of research has been done on rats.

It does look like it would be shipped from the States , so you may be right , Don’t think I’ll buy it just yet, hopefully more research will be done into it increasing bone density

I have bought melatonin from a company called Sanareva in France. You can also buy it in French supermarkets. It is very cheap compared to importing from the USA. Though, with Brexit, it will have to go through customs.

Thanks Tina, can I ask what you are using it for and has it helped at all, I’m a bit unsure to try it I’ve read of some nasty side effects

I use it help me sleep, especially to get some deep sleep and it does work. I take a very small amount (I bite it in half or less), which actually seems to work better and I don’t feel sleepy the next day. Nor do I use it all the time. I think it is right to be careful - it is a hormone and some people seem to take huge amounts, but every medication has some unwanted side effect. I was pretty surprised to find it available in my local French supermarket!

Glad it works for you and you don’t have any unwanted side effectsI was interested in it as I’d read it can help build bone density? Who knows

I’ve had a look at it on the sanareva website, so good to know it’s available if I decide to try it 👍

Not sure about bone density. I took melatonin last winter and my bone density got worse! However, as I say, I only take very small amounts and I suspect they might have to be higher to affect the bones.
