hi I have been on various medications for blood pressure and had many reactions ranging from blurred vision to skin rash. For the last two months I have taken 10mg of Lercanidipine I’m wondering if anyone has suffered insomnia on this medication? I am feeling very lethargic which could be lack of sleep or the medication . I want to try and stick with this medication, I’m 70 years old my blood pressure was checked over a week the result 133/85 which I’m happy with GP thinks is still borderline. I would be grateful for any comments. Thank you

Nowt wrong with that reading at all.Wish mine was that I’m only 53 and my bp is average 150/95 Think your gp is being a bit ocd plus you can have higher readings as your more senior in yrs.Change your gp.

Hi JAHH, I think your GP is bloody nuts. If I had a reading like yours, I would be very very happy.

Hi Jahh I was on Alodipine then because of side effects was changed to lecanidipine which was better but still had dizziness heart racing not feeling right was changed to Ramipril which although is not perfect is a better medication than the previous two the only side effect with the Ramipril is dizzyness but this after two weeks seems to be getting less and less so hopefully will disappear completely in the next few weeks It would be worth it to ask your doctor to try it out give it a few weeks to settle also I have watched video on youtube from heart specialist on BP and he himself takes Ramipril which is a good recommendation

That range is ok for 70. Dr. @ Hosp.with hbp. herself told me to be happy with 130/72.I'm 73 & it does fluctuate. Now diagnosed with RBBB.

That is a good reading. One Dr.at Hosp.told me if I get 130/ 80 ...be happy.A Consultant told me that only to be more aggressive with meds.if bp goes higher than 160/90.Also took me off Amlodipine & on Bisoprolol 1.25mg. I'm 73.

I think your blood pressure is perfectly fine. I wouldn't be letting your GP talk you into adding anything else. I have been on 10mg Lercanidipine for the past 3 years. My BP is stable enough just now, but if I have it taken at the surgery its usually sky high. I definitely have white coat syndrome. I get very lightheaded after taking it and sometimes nausea which does fade away. But I am at the toilet constantly. I am trying taking it at night, but I can't sleep and it's usually broken anyway by going to the loo. I'm sticking with this one as it seems to have the least side effects.

No one here is qualified to tell you to ignore your doctors advice.

Your doctor has info on your medical history and condition, and they’re using this information to make the call. No one here knows anything about you. Listen to your doctor.

There’s nothing wrong with you asking why they want to do this if you feel your BP is ok, but have that discussion first. You owe it to yourself to listen to medical advice.
