I have had bouncing blood pressure over the last few months and was hospitalized for 10 days while they tried to sort it out. Unfortunately I have symptoms with it so it can be most distressing. They have changed my medication from Candesartan which I tolerated well to a cocktail of Lercandipine,Nebivolol and telmistartan at night. I have developed really bad tinnitus and blocked ears. The trouble is I don’t know which medication is causing this, has anyone had tinnitus with any of these meds?
Thankyou for you help.

tinnitus is something that can be caused by nothing or by something. And if you have blocked ears that could be an infection and the medication you are on might be coincidental,to those two conditions. Tinnitus is very common.
A good bet for you is to go to the website of Tinnitus UK, the specialist charity, and browse there.
Hi ChiefsKC. I’m sorry you’re having such a tough time. High blood pressure and certain medications can cause tinnitus - Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker, for example, which can cause tinnitus. If you look at the side effects of blood pressure medications, the lists are usually very long. I’m on my 4th type of blood pressure medication in two years due to side effects. I’m just telling you this as when I had side effects with the first medication (I was severely breathless and fatigued for almost 3 months), I saw a GP and several other medical professionals who made me feel as though it was all in my head. When I suggested it might be my blood pressure medication, the GP was very sceptical but I asked to come off the medication and I saw an improvement over days and was fully recovered after a few weeks. I have at times felt worried about not finding the right medication for me or the doctors getting frustrated with me but I spoke to a very helpful doctor recently who told me that it was a matter of trial and error and that we would work together to find the right one. Don’t be afraid to let them know if you think the medications are causing side effects. It may take some time and some trial and error.
I spoke to the cardiologist who didn’t believe the Telmistartan would cause this but it was the last BP med to be introduced so I felt it was the issue. Changed back to candestarten at a higher dose and ear fullness went away and tinnitus is greatly reduced. He did say there are lots of other meds to try if this combination doesn’t work. I will be glad to not have any more BP surges. So far they have reduced so hoping this is a trend.
That’s how I was on Telmistartan , I do also take a low dose of lercandipine. Unfortunately stopping the offending medication is the only way to get rid of it. Maybe you can switch to a different BP med
