I've been on these for a couple of years and I have a tickly cough with them but, it's the muscle pain that bothers me more.

I am on amlodipine 5 mg (reduced from 10 because of the leg swelling) and over the past month have developed a very tight chest with shortness of breath and a niggly little cough. I attributed the cough to candesartan which I also take, but the cardiologist says it's not known to cause chest problems. Therefore, I can only assume the latter can be from the amlodipine so it's possible that other drugs of the same class can cause chest congestion as well. Some of us seem to be more susceptible to side effects than others, and it's a real struggle to copy with them. I feel I am stuck with them because these two meds, along with hydrochlorothiazide seem to be the only ones that can control my BP. :(

Weird I came off of Amlodipine also because I found my legs swelling Although it was doing its job BP wise Once I took Lercandipine I was fine I was with my Dr for this ongoing cough and ongoing mucus I've had for about 8 weeks but she said no change of meds did not cause this I had seen that some BP meds can cause this but Lercandipine is not an Ace Inhibitor so not in that category All I know is I HATE taking medicines but I know I have to I think they cure one thing but cause something else especially when you have to take a few The worst for me is Asprin So many things that are good for you cause problems when you take Asprin

Ace Inhibitors are definitely supposed to be the worst for cough, but from researching I've found many people have the same problems on other classes of meds. Perhaps those cases are not well documented, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I too am on daily aspirin, so again it makes it more difficult to find out which med is causing the problems.

Hi, I’ve been on Lercanidipine for a few years now with no side effects. However I have had an irritating tickly cough with mucus for months. Not on my chest. I’ve just put it down to post-nasal drip but I guess it could be the medication but it’s not something that’s mentioned in the list of side effects.

TheJazzSinger . I have experienced exactly the same tickly cough with mucus on lercanidipine and like you assumed it is post nasal drip. It's very uncomfortable and a constant irritation.

Hi Poxytablets . I have experienced the same symptom on lercanidipine and Drs deny it's the tablets. I am prone to post nasal drip anyway but lercanidipine makes it worse. I was also getting ankle swelling but take it at night now and no swelling. Not sure it's having much effect on bp though.

The problem is, you change to something else and get another side effect. We can’t win really.
