Hi Cornishperson. Palpitations and swollen ankles are on the NHS list of side effects for this drug but I would definitely see another GP, as you say, and get it checked out just to be on the safe side, especially as you say your ankles are worse now - better to be safe than sorry! Good luck.

Hi Cornishperson, I take Lercanidipine and have had palpitations but not swollen ankles, both of which are side effects of the drug, The problem is - if you change your medication you may experience other side effects as they all seem to have some judging from the posts on here. Not sure what the answer is but I’m not sure your GP is right when he says it’s not the tablets!

thanks for your reply.

i saw another doctor he's booked a blood test for me hope that shows up something

I was on Lercandipine for a year with no issues and then my BP spiked. They doubled the dose and my ankles /feet were so bad I couldn’t get my shoes on! They took me off Lercandipine and they’re much better.

hello, how long did it take for your ankle swelling to get better when you came off the lercanidipine? Thanks.

Hi

A good few days, maybe a week. I went to the loo a lot because of fluid retention and I drank lots of water to help with this.
