I had a really bad headache for first few weeks so if you’ve not been on them long try to persevere as side effects usually wear off. I too seemed slightly more breathless but that too wore off.

Hi I take these and found taking them at night works better for me. I was getting breathless and pounding heart in the mornings

I too developed sore upper arms on lercanidipine 10mgs but my Dr changed me over to an ace inhibitor (perindopril) because my HR was going up at night now pain has almost gone after a month and BP is also better.

Hello Cregan, I have taken this drug for approx 4 years now, initially 10mg and more recently 20mg, I found the exact same side effects but as the other people have said, it does wear off after some time but nevertheless is not very comfortable, I am going to ask my gp to change the meds if possible, but he has been reluctant to do so in the past. I would suggest , as others have said, give it a bit of time, the initial few hours after taking the drug is the most difficult for me. I’m not sure if any bp medication is south side effects unfortunately. Hope things improve for you.

Should read: without side effects.

I went on to 20 mg but felt faint so dropped back to 10 in morning and half of tablet in evening but bp still high so tried back 20 in morning and started getting bad headache and migraines

One of the most dangerous drugs ive ever had the misfortune of trying. It gave me terrible acid reflux to the point like it felt as if my stomach was about to explode through my chest, such was the pain and pressure it caused in my abdomen. I could also barely walk around my block without getting out of breath. Other dreadful side effects it gave me were rapid heart rate (140 bpm just walking to the bathroom!), arrhythmias that would occur randomly when my heart would just suddenly start fluttering out of nowhere for 10-20 seconds and scare the living daylights out of me, severe anxiety, severe abdominal bloating, difficulty urinating and severe erectile disfunction. How on earth is this drug allowed on the market if its even capable of giving you these symptoms!?

All this on the low 10mg dose! Avoid this drug like the plague unless you want your life ruining.

Hi are we talking about Lercanidipine here?? How awful! I’m inclined to agree if so.

Yes we are indeed. I could write a book on all my dreadful experiences on this drug! Its scary how bad a BP medication can make you feel, all whilst doctors ignore your complaints and expect you to live with no quality of life!

Hi Barry are, Oh god! Thought it was just me! It’s a complete washout! I’m really going to push for a change, have you managed to change drug?

Yes i’ve gone onto 5mg of Amlodipine instead and dont get any real side effects from that with a similar level of BP control to 10mg of Lercanidipine. Persuading the GPs to let you change meds is the hard part as they are often so stubborn and ignorant when it comes to medication side effects.

Yes I agree it can be a battle! Hope you get some relief and that the new drug works well for you.
