HiI have been persuaded by the clinical pharmacist to take Ezetimibe 10mg tablets as my levels were slightly raised. I have been taking them since weds and had a stomach ache all day and lots of gas. I am going to take it tonight and see if it works any better.
Anyone else suffered from this while taking them. They are in place of a statin.

Never heard of this drug, so I looked it up - one of the commonest side effects is stomach pain and lots of gas apparently. These should be listed in the Patient Leaflet that came inside the pack, but I wonder if that leaflet also suggests the best time of day to take it to try to avoid these effects,, or whether it suggests these side effects lessen as your body gets used to the drug.
hi smithyc , yes I have the exact same meds with the exact same side effects!! Awful, I've stopped taking it, have blood tests on May 2nd, have been trying very hard to lower cholesterol with diet so we shall see!! Life is too short!
Although it’s always wise to listen to professional medical advice, I can’t help feeling that prescriptions for slightly raised cholesterol levels are often unnecessary. In 2014 my doctor who was about the same age as me, suggested that I take a daily statin , saying ‘ it’s quite normal for people of our age’. My response was, can I try tweaking my diet first ? Combining this with a bit more exercise, I walk at least a mile most days , my cholesterol tests, which I have annually have since come back normal. Of course if a person’s cholesterol levels are dangerously high , drug intervention can be a life saver, but if you are only marginally on the wrong side it’s worth giving lifestyle changes a go.
Hi Daybreak1Funny you should say that as I have got my results out from last year and most of them have gone down. Not sure what the readings are supposed to be. I reading has gone up 0.5 the others have all gone down.
Don't see why I should have to put up with bloating and gas. The doctor has allowed me to go on an NHS 12 week free digital weight loss and my goal they have set is to loose 10lbs.
