High dose of Valsartan

Hi everyone, please help. I have had high blood pressure since age 40. I am now 76. My B/P was out of control for a few months in 2021, was getting systolic readings of 160 and above. I was prescribed 320 mgs of Valsartan, 5 mgs of Amlodopine. I now have a fluctuating systolic between 145 and 160 and diastolic no higher than 86. My question is since I am on such a high dose of Valsartan, should my blood pressure be a bit lower than it is. My GP think all is well and there is nothing to worry about, but I am also concerned about having such a high dose long term
