Hello - I have taken 2.5mg of Ramipril for the last 5 years. Blood pressure has increased and Dr advised increasing to 5mg. I started this two days ago but I've had dizziness / nausea ever since. Really unnerving and unpleasant
I dont remember having these side effects when I first started the 2.5mg but I may just have forgotten.
Has anyone else had this - and does it wear off eventually?
Thanks

Hi Sallyyy. This happened to me in the early 2000s. Without going into too many details, I was increased from 2.5 mg to 5 mg and in a few days, I was falling about all over the place as though I was as drunk as could be. Be careful as it caused a nasty accident for me. It may not affect you as bad as that, but if you get really dizzy, speak to your GP.
thank you for the replies. Happyrosie I think it probably is the ramipril only because it matches exactly with when I increased the dose but will keep an eye on everything else too.
springcross that sounds awful. And worrying that it got increasingly bad. Did it improve when you came off the 5mg. Do you mind if I ask if you when back to 2.5mg and add something else in or did you go into something else completely ?
As far as I can remember, it was reduced back down, but I was eventually taken off it as I had other side effects one of which was an irritating cough. On saying that, my sister has taken it for a few years now and doesn't seem to get any problems.
I’m on 10mg , I take 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night , I do feel very sleepy and I have the horrible cough , tried other medications but always a bad reaction
I did but it does pass once you have got used to it, and to be honest Ramipril is probably the only blood pressure tablet that had not given me problems. Hope it’s the same for you
