My son has high systolic levels during waking hours. He is 20 years of age and this was discovered during a screening for a physical test, part of a recruitment process for a particularly physical career.A comprehensive medical examination has not revealed a cause and there are no lifestyle adjustments to be made. He ran the London Marathon last year and does not misuse substances, he is not carry any extra weight.
I want to check and see if anyone knows of similar experiences. The benchmark for his age is not known as most young men never have their BP checked
Thanks

Hi!
I previously was at Atrial Fibrillation forum. You will be surprised, but we had a kid, 9 years old, with cardiac arrhythmia. Of the teenagers with arrhythmias, we had several. So, it is never too early, despite not quite usual.
The cause of your son's problems is genetic predisposition, combined with wrong physical activity (running). If you go to AF-forum, you will find there all the runners, cyclists and other physicaly very active people. They mostly have the same picture as your son - no signs of any disease when making tests, but they still have serious problems with arrhythmia. So, the best advise I can give you, is that your son stops being physically very active. I know that physical activity develops kind of addiction. When I was young, I also was addicted to exercise, and was rewarded with AF since 55 yo, lol.
