Yes when first diagnosed i was put on Amlodipine which, after a month made me breathless and unable to walk far and gave me swollen ankles. I have been on a combination of three other drugs ever since for the last 17 years with no problem.
Thanks for replying. I am so glad I am not alone. Did you feel better after you stopped taking it. I havent had a tablet now for 3 days so hope it wont take long to leave my system completely
Yes it was pretty quick. I trust you consulted your gp before stopping it, the new tablets i was given were started straight away and amazingly i could walk up the hill to work the next day whereas before i had to stop and rest.
Yes I too have had those symptoms on and off, especially when I climb a hill I have got very puffy. I am now on amlodipine 2.5 mgs (lowest dose) and losartan 50mgs. Also take statin 40 mgs. I have had statins on and off. And now decided my body should get used to it. I might go to 20 mgs statin and try that as well. Better than having a stroke which I am really afraid of.
I have been off the medication now for six days and already feel much better. I dont get breathless any more. I have been taking my blood pressure at the same time every day and it is much lower than before. Having said that I followed the advice of someone on here and sat with the cuff on for ten minutes before taking it. Feeling much better so will just continue with the atorvastatin.I have never been a lover of taking medication because of side effects
Maybe it's not the same for everyone. It has been months since I came off the medication and still feeling good, I hate taking tablets anyway and my blood pressure is still ok
