If it is truly from stress alone then some periods of complete relaxation would reduce it. I have to take two medications for mine to control it but I can bring it down more if I close my eyes and relax all my muscles. You can`t lose nothing!
Cali's reply is spot on.
Unfortunately, there are NO magic tablets for this. You need to address the source of the Stress and get the appropriate meds to manage it.
I worked in Children's Social Care so I can really relate to how work may be a factor. On the other hand, it could be a case of managing your 'anxiety' which may be stressing out your mind and body.
As my counsellor used to say - Stress Kills so don't take it lightly.
|Hello Emilparry. I do understand your dilemma so well. I have commented on this topic before and still I worry that in spite of taking medication for many years, my BP spikes with even little stress. So then I wonder why I am taking all these tablets? I agree with Cali111, I too can bring mine down with relaxation and mindfulness sessions but it worries me that my BP responds so quickly to the demands of my life. I have friends who have far more stress in their life but have no such problems. I would appreciate if people with a medical background could explain this to us. I get very worried when my blood pressure goes so high even with a stressful telephone conversation. And why do the medications I take not prevent this? In the meantime Emilparry, I hope you find support with the stress in your life. Annemarie
Take up the practice of Mindfulness, there are brilliant videos on You Tube to follow. This is proven to be extremely helping in calming the brain and therefore the system.
Meditation and a combination of magnesium, CoQ10 and selenium will certainly help. If your stress comes primarily from work, address it with the appropriate changes before it becomes something more severe. If it comes primarily from anxiety/emotional trauma, try thought field therapy.
thank you for many helpful responses. 777kaby suggested thought field therapy.
What does that entail. Aloisia
I've taught myself to breathe slowly and calmly - I practise in bed or when I'm alone - and it does help lower my BP. As it sounds as though your body reacts strongly to stress it may be a good idea to see if your GP can arrange breathing classes for you on the NHS.
Hi Emily, I am having problems with my b.p. also. I'm thinking stress maybe. How do you know? When I'm at the drs. or e.r, it's great. Come home and it's high? Feels like my heart is pounding also. Dr. listened to my heart ( while it felt like it was pounding ) said it sounded fine. How high does yours go? I'll be 120/80 at the Drs. Come home and I'm 150/93. Crazy! ......Ruby🌹
