Erratic blood pressure

I have had a couple of BP spikes at home and its always high in the doctors surgery, my Ramipril has been increased from 5mg to 7.5' I took the 2.5 one this morning and am going to take the 5mg this evening. However checked my BP. First reading is always around 142/84 then it dropped to 116/70'

Would it be better to take the 5mg in the morning and the 2.5 in the evening?

I’d say that your liver works best at night and that could be why you are being told to do it this way.

Recent research shows that bp meds are best taken in the morning though.

BUT were you told to take your dose in one go?

Thanks for replying, doctor said I could take in one dose or split them.

I now take mine at night-time as I was having dizziness. Previously took them in the morning.

Dizziness seems to suggest your bp was too low

I've been on 3 different meds over the years and was always told to take them at night. But everyone's different I suppose.

if your bp was 116/70 why do you need bp meds? Seems to me that you don’t want it lower than that.

My BP sometimes spikes to 170/90 and of course its always high when in the doctor's surgery, which is why they've upped my meds to 7.5mg Ramipril but I am concerned about it going too low.

I presume you are taking your bp at home. Why don’t you try taking it morning and evening (average of three each time) after you have been sitting for 10mins thinking beautiful thoughts. Do it for a week and then you can see what is going on without white coat syndrome. You can then see if you really need less or greater dosage of your bp meds. If you think your meds need altering after doing that then show your results to your doctor. Good luck
