Funny health/hospital experiences

Having a day of feeling a bit down and sorry for myself. Been out of the hospital for just over a week, and stuck in the house since.. So I have been expecting to feel this way at some point.

But I could do with a laugh, and although being ill is a terrible experience, i'm sure like me, you will have lots of funny incidents that helped you get through. So please share your stories.

One of my memories, which is funny on reflection, is when I went to the GP with this.. She checked my stats then hurriedly phoned for an ambulance.. I heard her tell the operator that I had sepsis... And I thought to myself "ah thats clever of her, she's just telling them that so that I go to the front of the queue, and they get here quick". In that moment I genuinely belived that GP was telling a wee white lie, as I couldn't possibly have sepsis as "people die from that". Then on being wheeled out by the ambulance staff I was shouting back, asking for a sick line for my work- covering until the following Friday, as I "don't think I will be back to my work for about a week". Safe to say I didn't quite comprehend how ill I was 😂

Yes definitely... Meaning in my head it was more likely the GP would lie and go against her code of ethics, GMC registration, and years of practice... Than me having sepsis 🤣. On reflection maybe I wasn't as compos mentis as I thought!

Pete had sepsis last year and thankfully is still here to tell the tale. He did have a funny incident once when speaking to our GP about his back pain. The GP didn’t check Pete’s records and just advised him to take up jogging !!!! Hilarious! He can barely walk let alone jog. Oh well.

Wishing you a good new year. Hope things improve for you. Xxxxx

I hate when it's obvious the GP had no clue of anything about your history!

A friend has an, as yet, unexplained abdominal pain. GP sent her for various tests and had her in to go over the results which included “and your ovaries are fine”. “Really? Didn’t know they could regrow because they were removed during a hysterectomy more than twenty years ago.” She said his beetroot-hued face was very satisfying to see! Fills you with confidence eh?
