I had an appointment for the hospital for April i caught covid and was still positive so had to cancel it although at that point i was a whole load better. It took 2 days of constant telephone calls to get the right person as i kept getting answerphones telling me to leave messages which I did, but still got the do not forget your appointment texts. Anyway they told me the next available appointment was October not happy but what could I do. No wonder people do not own up to being positive. A couple of days ago got another letter, due to unforeseen circumstances your appointment has been cancelled a new appointment has been made for you March 2024! How disgusting how can these people sleep at night I will have waited 18 months for a 1st appointment if it goes ahead and is not cancelled.

Suggest you contact PALS at the hospital. They can put forward the argument that you shouldn’t be unduly punished for something that was not your fault ie Covid. They could try to get an earlier appointment for you because I agree that this is unduly harsh and unfair.
With all due respect that's ridiculous saying March 2024 for your appointment!
I sometimes ask if they have a cancellation list. Sometimes it works other times not but worth giving them a call as you never know. 🤞
Having spent eleven days in hospital With Covid, pneumonia and a super bacterial infection, the consultant requested I be seen by respiratory team prior to discharge. After three days of staff constantly trying to pin them down and numerous messages being left on their answerphone, the doctors gave up and discharged me anyway. I have no appointment with respiratory and no follow up with the hospital. My asthma nurse from GP practice has seen me and is keeping a close eye on me and has said if necessary she will refer me to them….. Watch this space……. Needless to say, she’s not impressed
Seems to be the norm nowadays and after these strikes goodness knows how long you will wait. Its a terrible situation, I would ask about cancellations you may get lucky x
I did manage to get hold of someone there last time after being on the phone for 2 days they said if you want a cancellation you have to phone every day, but it took me 2 days to get to speak to someone last time when I had covid.
My ex local hospital St George's in SW17 used to be useless at appointments in the Chest Clinic. If I changed an appointment or had to cancel then re-appoint I'd always get a warning letter about not having turned up! I even went in to the department to do it as it was close to home & it still happened. Then I was discharged for not turning up to appointments 🤬 absolutely infuriating. I wonder if you write to the consultant's secretary explaining 🤔 .........?
A lot of appointments are being postponed or later than the doc requested. I think it’s because of the strikes and backlog they are being pushed back. The secretary who rang me to move one of my appointments had 140 people to ring. What an awful job. If you get worse ring up and ask to be seen urgently.
