Hi everyoneJust to let everyone know that after only just 2weeks of being discharged I find myself back in hospital for the same old story - my oxygen levels dropped dangerously again into the 60s then into the 40s - even though I was attached to my concentrator at 8 litres having gone to the loo
I sat on my bed while i was extrely tired to calm diwn when i was satisfied i coukd turn it to 6 had another rest then turned it to 4 litres
I lay down on my bed & my heart started beating fast i turned it back up to 6 then 8 & still the same
I got my folks to rush me to hospital & just had a few hours in A & E then taken to respiratory unit They took bloods in Resuss withe result that there is no evidence of infection
but ive got to stay in until they are satisfied with everything & can discharge me
Needless to say Im quite upset & so are my folks as its only been 2weeks from the last time i was in.

Sorry to hear you’re back in hospital so soon after the last time Sara. I hope you will be helped and can eventually go home again soon. Wishing you well. Xxx🤗❤️
Thanks much appreciated wish theyd get me the correct meals i ordered though I cant believe it happened the same week as oldham oxygen service are supposed to visit my home to repeat the gas tezt in my ear
So sorry to hear you are back in hospital again. Hope they can do something to help stabilise your breathing so you can get home and relax. Take care. Brian
hi Sara very sorry to hear about your sats I hope you feel better it's very complicated when we have serve copd and other respiratory problems can be difficult but it's better be safe and get yourself checked up I know hospitals can be boring some time's but it's still safe for an emergency wish you recover and on your feet soon take care 🙏
I cant understand why there was such a short period inbetween oxygen drops. Priior to these two episodes i went 3 to 4months without having one so its more concerning
hi Sara I'm 41 and I had serve copd broncechtisis respiratory type 2 odimia and pseudomnas with astma for 12 years and oxygen and bibep machine and nublizer with lots of tablets I have been in hospital for years on and off but know I got hold of my health I'm in control I have been out off hospital for few years touch wood but there was times in past I had been in hospital once a week in a month in hospital regularly and then once a yearly but know I'm OK and do use oxygen daily then take it off when I'm okay then I try not to eat too much one meal have it in twice take care 🙏
Sorry you are back in hospital again, there must be something their missing surely. Are they doing any tests at all. My heart goes out to you 😮💨 hope they can give you answers
When i arrived in Resusc they did a blood test 4 lots & results were no evidence of infection so i suppose thats good My specialist told me that its part of the ILD so it will always happen ive got scarring on my lungs
Really sorry chook, it's so unfair all these things we have to put up with. I have copd and their still trying to find medication that works for me, giving me hope the next one I try is the one. Just today went for a stroll and suddenly got shaky, weak and could not catch my breath, and all my partner does is roll his eyes. Really helpful. I hope they get you sorted soon. 😉👍
How awful for you and your family. I agree with some of the others, they should be looking into why this is happening. With me they found I was a retainer, I'm not saying you are, but there could well be some underlying, not immediately obvious, problem. I hope they soon get you home, treated and stable. All the best, xx
This is exactly what happened to me a month ago after which I was discharged into the care of a virtual ward team. Although I am now back under GP care it has left me with a lot of apprehension about when it is going to happen again. Hopefully you will soon be home again.
Yes, I know, but it took months on NHS ...in fact I was refferred in march this year and (hopefully) I will have ny catheter on the 9th of august ...but at least going private for the visit saved me a couple of months of waiting only for the specialist`s visit. Not considering that the NHS will do everything they can to convince you that it does not depend fron the heart, therefore they tend to stick to the usual unuseful therapy : steroids, antibiotics and nebulizer.
hello. It’s hard being on oxygen I’ve been on it almost 3 years. Started on 4l now on 18 l 24/7. For me I kept needing more as sats were terrible. Even now my oxygen drops to 40s on movement. No joke when you feel like you’re suffocating. I hope they sort you. May need higher oxygen for a while.
Hope u soon get help u need.ru aware of " controlled breathing techniques"?there are a few.pursed lips technique is gd to slow breathing down + help u breathe thro bad episodes+ stop hyperventilating xxx
Sorry for late reply Sara - been busy with CT scan on chest and outpatients..
It's scary when O2 dips -I sometimes do an overnight test with oxymeter - two weeks ago it was in 60s and 70s for longer than I liked - Basal was 90 so I left it there.
I hope you get home soon and get you sorted proper. Manchester you are not far from where I live. Let us know how you get on.
The same thing happened to me last month. I had a chest x-ray (no infection) antibiotics and they upped my steroids again. After an assessment with the respiratory team I was discharged on a higher oxygen flow and am on the virtual ward. Still no clues as to why. I hope you're doing ok? Are you home now? X
No still here. I was ambushed ay 10.30pm for a a nurse to to a blood test hours after was given predniserole. I sent her packing straight away & tol her to come back the next day atound 3pm. If sje comes back at another inconvinient time depemding om what is going on she ll either be allowed to proceed or leave empty handed
Ive been home a while now - these changes in temperatures keep making me cough Ive now got 2 walking frames to help me control my breathing when im walking
My prescription is 8 litres when moving about 4 at rest
Im not too bad thanks for asking#
My mum tried to persuade me to go shopping with her to middleton but i wouldnt as im too afraid of my oxygen tank running out & left with none so id rather stay in
