Rescue predisolone again

As much as I dislike taking pred. it does the trick and gets the breathing heading in a good direction. Made it to day 5 ok- if as a hyper active Duracell bunny. Until today- when I had a bit of car stress- no adrenalin kicked in and blood pressure all over the place. Just 2 days to go.... Does anyone else get a similar reaction to a burst of high dose predisolone (30mg tablets- I am a weedy 43kg at the moment)? I take magnesium n potassium to counteract the inevitable cramps and dandelion for puffiness.

I am just the same, screaming at the wall. In fact i do everything I possibly can to avoid an exacerbation and them. I hate the things although they are a necessary evil. You haven't got long now and you will start to feel better. I am sorry you react so badly to them.

Be careful, don't do too much or you could end up having to have a further course of pred!

Oh gosh I avoid the dreaded evils at all costs. Make me super hyper- no sleep till I finish them. I remember when I was still working- I'd be downstairs cleaning out cupboards whilst everyone else slept then I'd have to cope with 30 primary school children during the day. Awful stuff. Nearly done . Hang in there. x

Oh my- school kids to-u need a medal! Yes I've been walking, cleaning etc etc. Managed to stay calm and not shout at anything this time- getting to be able to handle it a bit better now.

Hi, I'm the same. I'm a light sleeper at the best of times but barely manage any sleep when I'm on Pred. It does help though and I do feel stronger when I'm on them, but hate the stuff. Only 2 days to go... Good luck!

I’m the same super active on 40mg and no sleep, going up stairs when normally stairlift. Then when it stops I get a really bad reaction of breathlessness. Now doctors say cut down gradually, 40 then 30 then 20 then 10 then 5 each for 5 days. It’s still extreme breathless time but better than the sudden cut off. Gp lets me have sleeping tablets when on pred but they don’t work that well. When I get an infection it’s antibiotics and pred time. When the pred finishes, I’m breathless, dr. Thinks more infection and I need more antibiotics and pred. Im still trying to work it all out. I also find my face goes puffy round nose about 4 pm when pred wears off. It’s not easy is it?

Hang on there, only 2 days

Xx. Jo

I know my effects are pred. related as odd things happen between 4-6pm- hungry or nauseous, tired. Then by about 7pm -go go go. Glad (not really) it happens to someone else to. I have tried taking them about 6am and it does ease the symptoms a bit. Hope you get a handle on it all. A necessary evil until something better comes along.

Thanks. Done silly amounts the last two days- beautiful weather doesn't help! Hope I can rein myself in for a bit now to avoid a crash.

I feel the same way... Necessary evil. On 40 mg, I sleep 5-6 hours a night. More than that and it is 4 hours. No more.

On the up side, about a year into xolair treatment, I have not needed much prednisone (knock on wood)!

I have a meds review next week -will c what is recommended. Trying montelukast again. Great to hear xolair is working- long may it continue.

My partner Paul feels your pain-he’s currently on very high dose of pared and weaning down -80mg due to lung related autoimmune haemolytic anaemia. It’s a difficult position to be in as his body is damaging his lungs, but without the pred his bloods would deteriorate really quickly. Lack of sleep, low immunity, feeling ill all the time all make his life a misery. Having a tough time just now :( xx

That's an astonishing dose- poor man. I have tapered down to 5mg and defo feeling it. Had a post mad-woman crash today- had to happen. See GP on Thursday. Really hope your husband can get down to a much lower dose soon- I've defo no cause to moan now.

I am on them right now, weaning them down from 6 tabs to now 3 then 2 etc. Yes, They do give your lungs a chance to Breath, They are The devil pills in disguise, Like Marmite, love em hate em. We need them when an Infection creeps up. Your Weight is low, which is Good, I am battling my weight at 64 k, The other side affect is Eating, not so much Meals, but silly things like Chocolate, Jelly babies. I hope to be back to my old self soon and get back into the Routine I love. Being indoors for a whole week is not my idea of recovery, but Needs must. I hope your feeling better now and getting your Bunny Motivated asap. Love n Hugs, Carolina. xxxx
