I don't think they have the time to care .the ones that do are out numbered when I see my ex colleagues and ask them if they still enjoy being a qualified nurse the usual answer is they have so much paper work they don't have time to spend with patients or they are working for the money and pension , they are tired of being short staffed and fed up of being under paid .

in reply to 123098

I don't know what to say to that...I didn't know things where like that now with the nhs.

Sorry.

its very sad the nhs should be fully staffed and nurses should be better thought of by the government but in reality they are trying to keep up with new reaserch trying to care for patients and keep on top of the paper work. a lot of care is handed down to hcas which is sad although some of them are excellant at thier job.. and all of this has a knock on affect for best patient care. The most important thing is for you to get better and if you are worried make sure you ask quuestions and get answers hope you get better soon xxxxx

I suffer from severe asthma bronchitis, they cant do any more for you because you have to wait until the medication takes its course especialy the steroids , but saying all this you should have felt better by now, perhaps they should give you a C.T SCAN I think that's what they call it and delve deeper in case there is some thing else going on, and I think the rash you are getting is through stress, well I hope things get better for you Steve

Hello Abbie

Sorry to hear you are ill and hope you are on the mend soon..

You may feel as if nothing is being done, but l assure you there will be lots of people working, ....( some in the background....haematology labs...radiographers...pathologists etc ) as well as the docs and nurses to get you well again.

If you are concerned, or feeling sick and in pain you must have the courage to speak to a nurse or doctor...they will listen to you, but you must speak up.

They can give you medication to help with both of those,

Please tell them asap and hopefully you will be more comfortable later

Best wishes

Velvet xx

I really feel for you Abbie, the lack of sleep, I expect due to Steroids, is probably causing you a lot of anxiety, I know when I'm in hospital this is usually my biggest complaint. I'm sure the staff are doing all they can for you but, as others have said, tell somebody about your worries, feeling so poorly and not sharing your concerns isn't good. I hope you'll be feeling a little better soon and manage to get some rest if not sleep, I know that's very hard to do in hospital anyway. I got woken up once when I was having a much needed doze to be asked "I'm just checking you're ok" . Xx 🌻🌻

Abbie, I was in hospital for a week at the beginning of the year with the same thing. I found it very scary that I didn't seem to be getting better but I was told it would take several weeks AFTER I left hospital to get back to normal. I asked for sleeping pills at night because of the lack of sleep due to steroids. If you are really worried, ask to speak to the consultant in charge of you and get them to explain things and answer your concerns.

Oh Abbie, Poor you. Everything seems much worse at night in Hospital when everyone is probably sleeping and you aren't.

I'm sure your Medical Team do care and it sounds as if you are in good hands. Sometimes I find there is the odd one who gives an uncaring attitude, ignore them.

If you can have a quiet word with who you think is the most caring and tell them your worries.

I was in Hospital for three days in June and didn't eat at all. Just the smell of the food made me feel sick. If you have family or friends visiting ask them to bring in some nibbles and any sandwiches, yogurts. fruit, flavoured water, fruit. Things you can eat at your own time if you feel peckish.

Keep a positive attitude, sounds silly but the right "I will get over this attitude" helps me enormously, sometimes even a good silent swear.

Keep us informed please and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

It is a new day now, sun is trying to shine here take heart.

Love Suzyxxx

Hi ,I to have asthma brinchiets ,and have been In hospital many times ,,,,,and was always looked after well ,,,,,but once you've had your inhalers ,nebulisers ,pills etc there's not more they can do other than keep a close eye on you ,,,,,you ask them for something to help you sleep ,,,,I'm asuming you've told them abouypt the pain in your right base lung ,,,,as this sounds where the infection could be ,,,,drink plenty ,that's where I get my problems always the base of my right lung ,,,

There is probably a lot going on that you don't see ,,,,ie; labs ,haematology etc .chest X-rays and scan if they think it necessary ,,,,,a bad infection takes time ,I've had stays of two weeks many times ,,,,oh ,,,,I hope you've pointed out the rash,,,,if not ,,,DO IT ,

Best wishes ,hope you soon feel well again and remember after a bad infection like this it can take weeks/months to get back to your old self ,

I wish you well ,

I fully appreciate that from where you are in your hospital bed that my advice will seen rather flippant- but it's not meant that way at all. When ever I'm admitted due at a severe attack it's about 3 to 4 days before I even start to feel a SLIGHT improvement. Hang on in there. Wishing you well.

So sorry to hear you are having such a bad time of it. Lack of sleep and feeling so exhausted certainly won't help the situation, but I too believe the doctors and nurses will be taking care of you. You are feeling very low, which is totally understandable, but I'm sure you'll start feeling better, and stronger, soon. Try to stay as positive as you can and I hope it won't be long before you see some improvement. Ask the doctor what the rash is and see if they can give you something for the pain, as well as to help you sleep. You must tell them how you feel and what you need so that they can put your mind at rest etc. Please keep us updated xx
