hello! Does anybody suffer with recurrent water infections? I am on my 7th infection since May… I am 34 years old and my kidney and bladder ultrasound is normal and my kidney blood test is normal… Also for about a year I have been getting migraines which seem to be linked to my monthly cycle around the time of ovulation and menstruation so I don’t know wether the 2 are linked… I am seeing the urologist at the end of this month but I’m getting really worried now. Can chronic kidney disease cause them? Thanks

Recurrent UTI’s
Hi Amy, I don't think we have much in common other than repeat UTI's.
I had robust radiotherapy for cervical cancer in 1979 (I'm 72). Back then soft tissue damage was a huge risk and I won't bore you about that. UTI's are a huge problem for me as they are still frequent and debilitating.
Good luck with treatments. x
If your scans and bloods are normal then you won’t have chronic kidney disease. Maybe the infection is embedded in the bladder wall so keeps recurring, hopefully your GP has done microbiology tests to find the exact bacteria and treated with appropriate antibiotics. You also need longer course than the usual 3 days they seem to think is enough, it generally isn’t !
You could ask about going on long term low dose antibiotics to see if that knocks it out. I took Trimethoprim for 2+ years and it worked.
I use Nitrofurantoin to prevent them.
