Valve regurgitation & Pulmonary hypertension

My wife had been suffering from breathing difficulties for a little while. She’s in her late 50s and in otherwise good health.

When her breathing got worse an enlarged heart RHS was found. She’s was then found to have severe triscupid valve regurgitation and moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation.

3 months down the line and the respiratory consultant has managed pulmonary hypertension. I was doing ok until this latter diagnosis.

The treatment path is currently unclear and I’m now in a state of anxiety and constant googling. I guess I’m here to learn, but also how I can stop the constant worry and support my wife as best as I possibly can.

Any help, advice or counselling would be gratefully received

The pulmonary hypertension isn't necessarily an additional problem -- it might just be that they've identified the cause of the right ventricular dilation and valve regurgitation. In which case it could lead to more/better treatment options.

My valve regurgitation was caused by degenerative valve disease, but even that is treatable. I've got a shiny new aortic valve and a rebuilt mitral valve.

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated.

As this is quite new for me I’ll have to find a way to stop the constant anxiety. It’s like a need lots of information, but find it both reassuring and frightening.

I hope your own path to recovery is good and successful one
