Hi all, have only been on Warfarin a few months and I know the clocks will be changing soon. So my question is do I take my tablets at what will be the new 6pm once they change or do I adapt and take them at the old 6pm. Hope that makes sense ☺️. Or do I change gradually??? Thanks

Daylight saving time and tablets

My days' activities vary and I've never slavishly adhered to taking medication and my blood pressure at the same times. (Yesterday I had breakfast and popped pills around 0645 before leaving for the Big Shop, today I had a lie-in, getting up at 0800.) Personally the change-of-clocks won't bother me; I suppose you could always change gradually, by 10 or 15 minutes a day.
NOT personal advice, and I'm happy to be shouted down by others.
Medication isn't time zone reliant . If you travel you should take meds at appropriate times. Say you take 4 a day, normally 6,12,18,00. In practice 7,12,16,22. Timings can confuse things so use utc for a timing. (UTC =GMT or Zulu)
In old hospital med were times at 6,12,18 and 22
Newer hospitals now do breakfast 08:00 lunch 12:00 dinner 17:00 and bedtime 22:00 normally
The 17:00 can be a pain as its also visiting time( wife doesn’t like needles, even if it is someone else)
I agree with taviterry
My schedule isn't that rigid either. I take my warfarin at dinner (which could be between 6pm and 7:30pm). On the odd night that I forget I take them at bed-time.
Thank you. As always great advice
I am on anti coulagnants too , I notice on the enclosed leaflet it say twice a day not every 12 hours. I tend to adjust in 15 minute sections, though when I had a Cardioversion , I was told take an hour early that day. As long as there is a reasonable gap I think.
I just go by I need to take it once a day in the evening
I try to be fairly consistent, on a daily basis as in 6.30pm(sometimes a bit later when I lose track of time) but I travel back and forth to Greece and that has a 2 hour time difference so if I'm staying for a month, I gradually adapt my UK 6.30pm over the course of a week till it becomes 6.30pm local time . Therefore, I would suggest just adapting to the new 6.30pm- also makes it more straightforward for your phone alarm.
