Hi all, this is my first post. Two years ago I had an attack of AF and was prescribed Bisoprolol. I didn't take it and was fine for two years. Then about 6 weeks ago I had another attack and went to A&E. All the doctors gave me a good telling off so I started taking the Bisoprolol. This has gradually been increased to 3.75 twice a day. However, since being on it I have felt ill. My heart rate is around 77bpm, which is fast for me, I feel breathless if I try to walk for more than a few minutes, I feel sick all the time and my hands are now tingling all the time. I really want to stop taking it. Is there an alternative? Taking for taking the time to read this.

Bisoprolol side effects

There are many alternative beta blockers (Metoprolol, Nebivolol, Atenolol, Carvedilol, etc.).
Calcium channel blockers can also be an alternative as long as you don't have heart failure or low blood pressure.
*Some* drug side effects go away after you've been on them for a few months. But I don't know if Bisoprolol is one of those or not (I don't get any notable side effects from it).
as Pad Thai Noodles says. One issue you might have is that many GP’s are very reluctant to change what a consultant has prescribed. So, get an appointment with the pharmacist employed by your doc’s group of surgeries and discuss with that person to see if there a way round.
hello there! Actually last month my husband was prescribed with bisoprolol 5mg , he had extreme fatigue, pressure in chest . Dr reduced the dosage from 5 mg to 2.5mg . He is better now by gods grace.
There are lot of beta blockers available. If this med is hard on you cosult with your Dr and they will work on other beta blockers
I have been on Biso 2.5mg since my CABGx3 approx. 9 months ago. Recently had a GP review due to increasing side effects including resting heart rate in the 40's and it was reduced to 1.25mg. I felt an almost immediate positive effect, so it's not just the med, it can be the dose that needs adjusting.
