Hi so bit of background, I'm 31 and live a busy lifestyle running a business, ive always thought I've had anxiety attacks, in February I had a particularly bad spell, heart pounding, lightheaded, feeling nauseas, had me in bed unable to do anything for days, the doctor decided it was probably dehydration.
Lockdown then came about and as these spells became more frequent, I didn't really pay much attention as I could just sit on the sofa for a week until the symptoms passed.
This past Friday I had a really bad spell that scared me and called the GP, ended up being admitted to hospital with multiple blood tests and wearing a heart monitor to try and catch an episode, which we did and I was discharged with suspected AVNRT
I've now been taking 1.25mg of Bisoprolol since Monday but I am suffering horrendous side effects, I wake up feeling ok, take a tablet at 8am and by 10am I have extreme fatigue, nausea, light headedness, unable to do anything, I can't even walk to the top of my garden, by 6-7pm the symptoms are passing and I'm able to do a little more, when I rang my GP she said it's normal and probably my body recovering after such a crazy weekend, and it should settle in a week or so. But is it normal? I feel like I'm bugging the hospital ringing them to say I don't feel right just to be told to bare with it, this morning my chest feels tight, not painful but just tight when I breathe in.
Can anyone tell me about their experiences with bisoprolol? Am I just over thinking it and should bare with with it?
Thanks in advance

Hi I understand how you feel as had the very same issues,I take my Bisoprolo at night now,I am a bit slow in the morning but that’s it. This is only my experience I have PAF speak to you doctor.
When I started with my heart problems, I was put on 1.25 bisoprolol ! Wow I felt terrible , zombie like ,tired and weak. Came off after one week, but later, after I got poorly and ended up in hospital, they put me back on it, I did tolerate it. Now I have built up to 5mg , which I take in the morning. Your body will adjust to it, given time ,but if you suffer severe side effects you need to seek medical advice without fail. From a person who never took any meds, I now take several, all of which need some time to allow your body to adjust to. Regards and good luck Stephen.
My husband’s on Bisoprolol. From memory, it can take a bit to settle and a week is still early days. It takes time to get your head around your condition and what it means for you too. I’d suggest keeping a written record of how you feel each day, what time you took your meds etc. then you have some objective information to discuss with your doctors.
If you’re asthmatic then betablockers can affect that so you should discuss with your GP or Cardiologist, together with a note of your peak flow readings (if you have a meter at home, otherwise ask for one).
Hope this helps and best wishes to you and your loved ones for the future.
It's a type of svt, an abnormal fast heart beat, I have been keeping a diary since I was discharged and I have a pulse oximeter and blood pressure machine at home so have been keeping a regular check, I guess I just have to get used to it,
Just a suprise when I consider myself quite active and healthy, would never of thought I'd have an issue with my heart, then again don't think anyone does
Thank you for advice, any and all given is greatly appreciated
I agree with the previous folk who have commented. Bisoporol made me feel really poorly - heavy feeling in chest, legs like lead, couldn't walk far especially up a slope without heart feeling like it was stopping & starting, severe tiredness. Together all these side effects meant I couldn't tolerate it. - (was on it for 6months) this was followed by various medications prescribed with various side effects. We are all different so best take advice of your cardiologist
Hi I'm exactly the same I was started on 2.5mg. I went into work and 2 hours later I had to come home. Took me over 2 hours to feel well enough to come home. I feel like I don't know where my feet are half the time. I contacted my gp yesterday I'm waiting for a response. The fatigue is awful.
Bisoprolol has really quite nasty initial side effects, I was prescribed with 2.5 mg after heart attack 5 years ago and 3 years ago they upped it to 5.mg OMG i felt as though the world was falling on top of me, don't worry they do ease over time, if not there are alternatives that may suit you better!
I was like this on my bisoprolol to begin with but after a week ir so it got better. I currently have 1.25mg at night and half a tablet in the morning. Ave recently been prescribed flecainide too. Mine is also for avnrt
