I am 35 and in August last year I was prescribed Bisoprolol 5mg for SVT. When I first started on the medication, I felt awful (mainly heavy chest) but this passed in a few days and I have been fine since. However, over the last week, I have felt tired, a bit 'zoned out' and my short term memory is not great. I was wondering whether these can be side effects of the medication even after taking it for around 6 months?? I have become bad at remembering to take the tablet and have recently been taking it quite late in the day - any time from 6-9 o clock -could this also be causing the problem?

Bisoprolol - Side effects?
My husband takes this, his short term memory is a bit hit and miss but think this is just down to him not listening. If you have a smart phone there is an app “Medisafe” that reminds you to take your pills and when to refill. D has to take so many after a Cardiac arrest this has been a real help. It’s free. D takes his at 8am, if you are worried speak to your GP
Are you on any other medications both prescription and/or non-prescription? I am on so many I call it my cardiac dolly mixture! I have seen articles linking statins to memory loss but never beta blockers. Would also echo have a word with your GP.
Hated Bisoprolol and now off thankfully, symptoms low heart rate- tiredness-anxious- if needed I would ask to try another, wish you well.
I have been on Bisoprolol for more than 3 years and have NO noticeable side effects. Now having a Pacemaker fitted I feel ten years younger and enjoy gardening and golf. Talk to your Doctor. Good luck.
Hi I couldn't get on with bisoprolol and am now on carvedilol. I'ts marginally better but still get very tired and cold hands and feet. I can identify with the spaced out and memory loss. I think this has something to do with it lowering your blood pressure.
Dizziness, lightheadedness and breathlessness are all symptoms of SVT

I use a 7 day pill organiser box as it saves having to sort 5 drugs out twice a day
Go see you GP and get advice.
I also find the BHF website very helpful and their heart helpline
I have to admit that I have never had problems with bisoprolol although I only take 2.5 mgs. Because the tablet is so small I can actually take it without water and it is the first thing I do when I wake up.
Hi, I'm 38 and I've been taking bisoprolol (5mg, like you) since August last year. I certainly agree on the short term memory issue, although I've put it down to anxiety and distraction as I get used to a new reality and pill popping. I'm expecting it to improve over time as I get more used to having a heart condition. I'd be interested to know what your cardiologist thinks.
