Hello all

I’m looking for travel insurance. I’ve got AFib and am on the waiting list for Ablation.

Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated

Hi Sunshinecoast,

I use Staysure and have never experienced any major issues with them. I have had to claim twice due to falling sick abroad and it was pretty much a smooth process. They cover a wide range of conditions, to include the heart, so you may want to look into them further.

Don’t forget to also disclose any upcoming tests or investigations you have for any other conditions. Often those conditions still undergoing investigation are not covered in the policy.

travel insurers generally don’t want to offer insurance if you are waiting for a procedure and the insurance isn’t yet in place.

A good source of information is Moneysavingexpert or Moneyhelper UK.

As we are all different and what fits one person may not be suitable for the next, try a comparison site for travel insurance with pre existing medical conditions, fill in all the questions as fully and honestly as you can, then take it from there. Or talk to a local broker. If you are waiting for tests or a procedure you will no doubt find many providers won't take you on, or the cost will be high. That's how it is. But if you want individual recommendations from fellow members this question crops up regularly on here, sometimes several times a week, so you could search the community site.
