Many people who experience premature atrial or ventricular premature or ectopic beats note that they can occur after eating. It's felt to be caused by stimulation of the vagus nerve brought about by stomach distension. This is the parasympathetic nervous system at work rather than the sympathetic nervous system.

Thank you for your reply. I had read that could be the cause, thought I was the only one that experiences this, it’s not nice feeling is it.

Yes. My cardio suggested taking a glass of water before eating a meal would help.

Thanks Litzy .

Thought I was the only one experiencing these symptoms, I might just try the water đź‘Ť

Mine seem to occur when I’m sat down eating my dinner so this is interesting!

Hi đź‘‹

Dr Sanjay Gupta on utube discusses heart gastric issues, check him out, it does makes one wonder why these symptoms suddenly appear 🤷‍♀️

I have long hair, I bend over the bath to wash it, I’ve noticed some missed beats as I’m bending over, I assume that has something to do with this vegas nerve too, apart from not eating or bending over, how can this we avoid them??

Oh thank you will check him out. I did use to bend over to wash my hair, but as I’ve got older, I just do it in the shower now. I was a lot younger then so I didn’t really notice any missed beats, however now I get them frequently and it’s scary.

Hi again,

Don’t like washing my hair in the shower, don’t like getting water on my face, stems from nearly drowning when I was a kid.

I’ve just read your posts from 3yrs ago, how are you now? Did you see a doctor about the blackouts?

I went recently to a new GP surgery as moved to a new area and was having bad chest pains, funny heartbeats & bad dizzy spells & was prescribed acid reflux medication. I left there in tears and I point blank refuse to see that same GP again! I’m still plucking up the courage to go back. The chest pains have gone at the moment thank goodness wouldn’t say I’ve been sorted out as still getting my funny heartbeat and dizziness but I just feel I’m not being taken seriously.

That’s awful to hear of your experience with GP, can you see another GP there? Or move to another surgery, until you have an answer,.

Have you had a tilt table test? Look it up if you haven’t, just a thought.

Not what you're looking for?
