Irregular heart beat

Hi πŸ‘‹, Last summer I had 2 separate issue's that I called constant palpitations for no reason so went to doctor's twice then sent to A&E consultant as was told Nov 23 I had irregular heart beat and was put on 5mg of Bisoprolol to which stopped my palpitations and it was so nice not to have this popping up every now and again but after 5 months had the flutters again and nurse told me to make GP appointment and this was done for a phone chat Monday 8th April 9am about upping the dose maybe to 7.5mg but won't know until 2 days time... It as calmed back down so not sure what the outcome will be, but I do know personally this medication Bisoprolol as been life changing for me, I'll write on hear after I've spoken with GP Monday to say what he suggests.

Was there anything that have caused them to start up again?

Had you got casual with cutting out known causes such as caffeine or been putting on weight, or has something happened recently in your life such as a change of job or something causing you stress?

It could of course be that the effect wears off over time and you may need to up the dose.

Just looked at your bio. Your weight and exercise regime could be a major factor. Let us know after your GP visit. You do need to lose weight

Thanks for reply devonian186 I go to Gym 3 time's per week for 2 solid hours workout cardio and weights but I have lymphodema on both lower legs so have excess water in my whole body and find it very difficult to lose weight but feel better with the rush of endorphins mate. No reason why it started up the irregular heart beat as I was relaxing in my living room, no lifestyle changes else I could have pin pointed it. When I started taking 5mg of Bisoprolol the consultant did say when you have review or they not helping we might up the dosage? That's what the phone call is about tomorrow morning 9am... I've had this on off Edgy palpitations for about a decade so just glad to know Bisoprolol can solve the problem as currently it as eased, I will let you know Monday what the GP said πŸ‘

Hello I also have an irregular heart beat it can be Bigeminy or Trigeminy ectopics, even every other beat can also be an ectopic ( don't know medical term for every other one ) but I was once told irregular as long as it's regular dosen't require treatment ! now sort that one out lol

I have been up to 10mg Bisoprolol, but it hasen't sorted it. I do believe meds work differently on what is causing the problem it could be a Timing Issue or an Issue with Damaged tissue tests will show which it is ! I would thinkCardiologist is the person to decide on upping Bisoprlol rather than a GP on a telephone appointment.

Regards

Thanks for reply but the GP stated back in November 2023 that consultant stated start with 5mg and doctor said if OK leave it at that dose" If not gp may up the dose not cardiologist! That's what I was told" Will see tomorrow morning 🀷

Hi, I notice you are having issues with Bisoprolol, when I was discharged from hospital after my heart attack, I was on 10mg per day, along with another load of drugs, now 4 years later after another heart scare (due to incorrect drug issued ) I have been reduced down to 2.5mg per day, this is part of my daily 9meds every day, it would depend on what drugs you are on for bisoprolol to be most effective.

I know this may not answer all your worries but hopefully the GP will get the correct dosage best for your condition.

take care and be safe.

Thanks for kind words Carbait and hope you feeling well as I write this. When I have bloods tomorrow Friday it will depend on my other medication as you said as to wether I remain on 5mg to which I'm happy to continue. All the best I wish you well and will message back next week πŸ‘

I would take a TOTAL of no more than 5mg of the medication you identified. In longer dose it tires the body out significantly. It definitely effects your total functions. Take as you wish and

good luck. Let me know how it turns out. James in USA - Florida ( use your waterpills

Thanks for reply and advice, Yes I take 2 water tablets first thing in morning to clear excess fluid because of Lymphoedema, the doctor phoned me and said for me to have bloods taken tomorrow Friday 9am and will reassess after results which I'll phone next Wednesday afternoon 17th April but I'm happy on 5mg as they've helped substantially with irregular heartbeat, I think the dose will stay the same personally, but all will be revealed with bloods results, thanks for your input πŸ‘

I've always lived in Wales, We currently having a lot of rain of late, that's why we have so many reservoirs within a radius of 25 miles 😏 But on average we get about 4 months a year of lovely sunshine to which is imminent anytime now. Did you move from another part of America to Florida, back in the early 70s 6 lads a little older than me went to America to live, and but for one who as his own place San Francisco the other's went to South America, France and 2 back home here. My brother was going to go with them, but he met his wife to be and stayed.. still married after 40 yrs else he would have gone..

I would never advice on this platform as I'm giving my personal experience as I tried numerous medication to which a consultant finally told me and nurse's that medication I was prescribed went out in the arc "His Word's" and moved me to beta blocker that as made a huge difference for me personally, not certain meds suit all for health issue's. Yours Sincerely
