About 3 /4 nights i the week I am awake u till about 4.30 in the morning which makes me exhausted the next day. Also if I do sleep I have disturbing nightmares. I think the problem is drug related but Doctorsnot interested.

I take Gliclazide, trajenta, carvadilol, amiodarone and losartan

Does anyone experience this problem

My HF nurse warned me about a common side effect of beta blockers before I started them being traumatic nightmares. I had these in the beginning whilst my body got used to them and thankfully they stopped after about 6/7 weeks.

With all the trauma of the HT and emergency quadruple CABG all out of the blue it also left me with PTSD. I like so many others have had counselling, which has helped and is something worth thinking about. Good luck.

Carvedilol is a beta-blocker, as Pouchielou1972 pointed out they can affect your sleep pattern

If you are on a single evening dose you could try taking it early in the day - or you could ask about being switched to another beta-blocker or something else if this is affecting your quality of life more than it helps

I took amiodarone for a short period of time prior to my first cardioversion. It was for about a month prior with a regime that progressively lessened the dosage until the successful cardioversion procedure, then I was told to stop using amiodarone. Now I'm on Eliquis as a blood thinner At the time the only other RX that you mentioned in your inquiry that I was taking was losartan. To answer your question, neither seemed to have effected my sleeping habits.

It is my understanding that the amiodarone was prescribed in an effort to avoid potential clots being "loosened" during the cardioversion. In subsequent discussions and my own exploration, I found that amiodarone is believed to be a really toxic medication when taken for the long term, (in excess of 8-10 years). To be noted, I'm writing you from the United States and I've been told that as a practice, here in the States amiodarone is not intended to be used long term (doesn't mean that is correct or not, just saying.)

Interestingly, (to me) everyone that has reached out asking questions about amiodarone on this site has been a Brit. I pointed that fact out one time to my own cardiologist, and her response was simply, "interesting, doctors in the UK must prescribe it more than we do."

Not sure why I mentioned that fact, but no one has mentioned the use of Eliquis. I'd prefer not to be on a blood thinner, but it reduces the risk of stroke to a very low factor, so I go with it.

The brief answer, no sleeping issues.

I wish you luck.

Peace
