I was told not to stop my blood thinners when I had my tooth out. BIG mistake! I bled heavily for 9 hours ending up in A & E. However, despite all the blood loss, I was advised to continue the blood thinners and I didn't have any other problems.

Same with my husband. Recommendation is not to stop. But if you do, it must be about seven days before then resume immediately

I think it also depends on the blood thinner. Seven days sounds like warfarin? (I think the NOACs are faster to start/stop.)

This was the opinion of a dermatologist and was regarding Clopidogrel. Mind you we’re been told, on other occasions. ten days but mostly “don’t stop!!” Ended up in A and E when didn’t stop ……..
