I did a buy nothing year a few years back. I think I’m going to do it again next year. So much more creative to think of ways or reusing stuff I already have.
Pay no attention to any of it, and save your money would be my advice. The more something is hyped up, the less I want anything to do with it. For example, the recent worldwide health scare was successfully ignored by me.
Wow, you've been very lucky to have missed it. Sadly we lost our 42yo nephew to it. I had a severe bout of it but luckily recovered but it took months. Unfortunately my husband also had it which worsened his HF & we nearly lost him. Let's hope you continue to avoid it 🤞
Covid like other viruses, flu, colds etc will always be with us.
Long covid is still having a negative impact on many people's lives.
Having an infection of flu increases a person's risk of a heart attack.
Viruses mutate to survive as was well publicised during the Covid pandemic. That's why there were and still are several Covid jabs needed, just like for for flu. I have had all my Covid jabs but it didn't stop me catching Covid the first time when that was at its peak, whilst in A&E of all places. If you haven't had any of the jabs and knowingly had Covid you have been lucky so far. Nearly every one I know has had it sometimes twice like me, although its quite weak now and you may have had it and it didn't cause you any problems, and so perhaps you just thought it was a bad cold.
I cannot for the life of me see what you conspiracy theorists gain by hijacking threads. It's not even mildly amusing just rather pathetic!
I usually do not buy anything as most of the items on offer seem to be end of season clearance rather than true bargains. Where I used to live there was a long established hardware/mini-department store. I loved their sales as they just deducted 10% off everything at the till and sometimes 20% on the last day (but a risky option as things went out of stock). The original owner retired in 2003 and the new owners tried running it "their way"! It failed in under three years. One of the strangest decisions was to reduce the successful café hours. Many people used to browse, and often buy, on Sunday afternoon before going for a coffee (and often homemade cake). So they closed it at 2:00 instead of the previous 4:30. People really need to be careful when putting their own stamp on a successful business. A successful Italian café was taken over (coffee, cake, pasta dishes, soup, dessert, etc.) and the new owners went pork free! Turkey salami is not the same! It crashed and burned in a couple of years!
I was going to suggest moving this to the Social Check In as I suspect some of the comments may result in locking or even deletion, but it is still in October whilst we are tacking our Advent calendars!
