I rang the 2nd dentist who’d refused to treat my abscess and even the hospital !!!!
My dentist was waiting for a letter of confirmation of their refusal and hadn’t got it, so I had to sort it out, it’s been around 1-2 weeks getting a reply through, this is an urgent case apparently, it’s been weeks!!!!! They hadn’t even done a letter or email to my dentist do he can go back to the hospital to have it done this time. 😡😡😡 if I hadn’t rang it wouldn’t have been done.
I’m not going to get seen this side of Xmas so it will be around a year soon, I understand it’s complex with heart conditions/meds etc but they’re professionals !!!!!!

I am so sorry you have to put up with this for such a long! It's a bit of a joke really that! I don't envy you Fluffybee and the discomfort and pain you have to put up with for such a long time! I would crawl up the wall! Please don't feel angry but admit we all do at times! But I understand this is unacceptable to get this abscess sorted out!
As suggested in previous post you wrote, write to your MP 📃✒️ PLEASE !!!!!!!?
Will pray you get this sorted soon and you be free of this abscess ❤️ 🙏
Again Fluffybee, I can’t believe what is happening to you. Did you manage to leave a message with your cardiologist secretary I can’t remember. When you say it’s going to be a year, that makes me cross for you, no one should have to go through so much even if we have a heart problem or we are in a pandemic. We are being told that the NHS is open but when you hear these sorts of stories you have to wonder.
Yes I have left a message for my cardiologist, his secretary rang me back and said he’s not in until after Xmas so talking to him at my next appointment in late Dec !!!
This is a bit like being on a merry go round and you just can’t get off. I would tell you to have a walnut whip if it wasn’t bad for your teeth 😂 hang on in there you will get sorted sorry that was a daft thing to say. You must feel this will be going on for ever. When we have our open heart surgery we have to have a dental check done and a deep clean. I see the hygienist every 6 months now to make sure there is no plaque, in case of streptococcus and it getting to my tissue valve. I remember the hygienist saying there are more germs in our mouths than over the rest of our body put together. So having an abscess can’t be good for our hearts.
When you speak to him at the end of the month make sure he knows how long this as been going on how many rounds of antibiotics you have had, and what a pass the parcel they have been playing with you.
I’d been told a lot that having problems with your teeth can affect your heart, that’s why it’s worried me so much, apart from pain etc.
I do take good care of my teeth cleaning, flossing and water flossing.
Ummmm talking of walnut whips !!!!! I’ve had a cheeky one today, oh it was yummy 😋
Sadly or not my walnut whip obsession needs to be quashed in the new year. More healthy eating to begin.
Just thought wouldn’t it be awful if I finally get a date to have my tooth/teeth out and it’s Xmas eve !!!!!!! I would take them up on it, you can always suck a roast potato 😂😂😂
Oh Fluffybee you make me laugh, sucking on a roast potato 😂 glad you had a walnut whip we all need to be cheered up on occasion 😉 I will certainly have my fingers crossed for you that you haven’t to much longer to wait until you are pain free.
Sorry to hear about the abcess but have u tried gargling with salt water and putting a tiny dab of cloves paste on the area where the abcessess is I did this when I was in pain with an infection which seemed to help after I had a ha my dentist wouldn't remove my tooth for over a year
😂😂!! Mashed sprouts with your roasts. On a more serious note, I'm speechless about the lack of care you're getting. Just so sorry and angry for you.Sending virtual hugs and a bottle of virtual scotch to put on the abscess (or to swill down another walnut whip!!)
Oh dear goodness Fluffybee I can’t believe this I’m so annoyed for you. This situation is absolutely disgraceful. It is actually quite shocking that you have been let down so badly and left to suffer for this length of time! I think it’s time to seriously consider writing to your MP. I really feel for you having to put up with all this over Christmas as if heart problems and Covid are not enough to be handling! I hope somebody can help you out soon.... x
I have contacted my cardiologist, it’s getting complicated but he’s ringing me in about 2 weeks for a consultation anyway so if I don’t hear anything I can take it up with him again then !!! Thank you for replying 🤗
Oh dear, I am really sorry to hear that this is still ongoing. What an absolute disgrace! I hope you finally manage to get this sorted and as soon as possible.
my dentist wouldnt treat me due to heart problems and referred me to hospital - got appt quickly but on the day I had a really bad menieres attack - tried ringing department but couldnt get through - didnt want to think I didnt bother so went down there - in a wheel chair as I couldnt walk - to tell receptionist was too ill - nurse came out and said come and talk to dentist. So glad I did - he was marvellous - was very well informed both on heart problems and menieres - dealt with me with no trouble at all - and I even learnt a few things about menieres I didnt know - I will always try to see him in future.
So sorry to hear this has still not been sorted. You said the the antibiotics work, but then the infection comes right back. Sounds like maybe you need a different antibiotic. Maybe you could ask your GP/dentist to prescribe one with a bit more umph. I had an infection, not in the tooth, but it took 4 different antibiotics, fine whilst I was on them, back within a few days/weeks of completing the course, before the last one knocked it fully on the head. It might be a long shot, but I hate to think of you still suffering. Having had an abscess I know how painful it is.
I feel your pain. My extraction for an abscess was cancelled the week before lockdown ( dentist ill). Then it dragged on from March until end of June when I finally got it out. I did have three lots of amoxil which like you damped it down each time. I used hot saline mouthwash a lot which "drew" the abscess and reduced pressure. Tobe fair mydentist was almost as cross as me. She said it was "worse than third world dentistry". They were willing to treat but not open because of lockdown. I too would contact PALS
With all due respect, an abscess can be notoriously difficult to treat. I therefore understand the dilemma of the dentist regarding treatment. Before Covid, I had 3 apical abscesses which did not respond to antibiotics also an antifungel.
Eventually, due to extensive swelling on one side of my face, removal of a wisdom tooth was necessary in order to remove the abscess. This was a tricky process to pair a cyst and abscess away from the apex of my tooth which were attached to a nerve. The risk of nerve damage was high as was the risk of introducing infection into my system.
As a diabetic with heart and lung disease, the risk of systemic infection was very high, a very dangerous situation.
Nowadays, the risk of contracting Covid whilst in hospital is also a consideration.
My cyst was 1cm diameter and a burst cyst abscess had caused infection in my bone tissue. Despite IV antibiotics plus 3 months treatment of very high doses of broad spectrum oral antibiotics, the problem reoccurred . I am lucky to be alive!
Nevertheless, you do need treatment sooner or later. I suggest you ask for a swab to be taken in order to know which antibiotic will work for you as a first line treatment.
I completely understand the dentists decision, I’m just getting grumbly about having this abscess for so long now and it has opened up 3 times in the last few months. Yuk !!!!
I think when you are in pain for so long and the worry of the infection on my body and heart and all the pain meds and all the heart meds I’m on.
