Feeling let down.

I've been on this heart journey since 2011, nearly lost my husband and it caused a heart attack. Several angiograms and stents later, still experiencing chest pain. I'm on numerous medications for my heart and other health issues. Yesterday cardiologist, who has changed medications, done tests, said maybe its not the heart causing chest pain. I'm female, I don't present with severe pain when I do have a heart attack. Often been told by emergency that it's not heart attack, here, have Reflux med, one good burp and your chest pain will be gone. Then test shows it was. When will they realise that female patients don't fit the box of 'normal ' symptoms? If it's not the heart, why not remove all the medications? I realise that some shouldn't expect to be free of pain. But, why not? I live with chronic pain, so rating pain is difficult. Difficult to get a cardiologist, we live in regional Australia. The one I saw was on telehealth, hard to get them to travel. My husband is unwell, having constant falls, so we can't travel either. Sorry this is so long, just feel let down. Take care everyone. Moni

This is exactly what's happening to me , spending weeks in bed with severe fatigue, getting multiple episodes of sharp pain daily but troponin & ecg normal. I feel so so unwell & after the heart attack in may I can't help but feel like I'm just waiting for another one. Can't get over what's happened with these symptoms torturing me all the time. Cardiology won't even talk to me now so I also feel let down & abandoned. Sending you hugs 🫂 you aren't alone

Sorry to hear you’re still suffering . Hope you get the help you need . If you say no one is willing to talk to you ? Maybe you could contact PALS ?

I wouldn't say they are not talking to me, just have to stay positive. Sometimes, I give up and don't try hard. My diabetes is difficult to control even with medication. My cholesterol is always around 3-4 even though I'm on lowest statins. Thank you for the suggestion. Take care. Moni

your right when you say women present totally different to men . I had stent due to angina , but even that wasn’t painful ,just a dull ache in left arm on excursion , even though the artery was more than 95% blocked . Sometimes us ladies just have to know own bodies and trust our gut instinct That something isn’t right . Hope you get the answers you need

Have you tried the simple GTN spray test?

Good question. I always avoid taking it, because I live with chronic pain, just another pain. But that would help them to see if it is the heart, as well as me. Thank you. Take care. Moni
