I have been taking 25mg spironalactone in the morning for years, its a gentle diuretic and I have no problems, however, I go to the toilet 2-3 times a night.
I had been getting breathless recently and my heart consultant prescribed furosemide. I didnt want to take it in the morning and my doctor said its fine to take in the evening as long as I didnt mind being disrupted at night with visits to the toilet. I didn't mind.
I started taking furosamide on friday at 6pm, went urgently to the toilet through the evening and then went to bed, through the night (and every night since) I have only needed to go once in the night! 🙌.
I am very happy about this, has anyone else had any experience of this happening and do you have any thoughts about evening taking of furosemide. (I dont go out at night by the way so absolutely no disruption😁)

Before I was put on furosemide as well I asked my heart consultant about changing the time I took spironalactone as it was driving me mad as well and he didnt want me to change the routine 🤷🏽♀️as my body was tolerating all the other pulls and he didnt want to risk disrupting them.
I take spironolactone and Bumetanide, I use to take furosemide, in the mornings the between 1-2 I take another 2 diuretic. I do get up once a night to go toilet sometimes it’s around 5 though.
During the day I find them most disruptive because if I go out I have to work out where the nearest loo is and how clean they are so I hardly travel now unless I really have to.
Yes thats what I am trying to avoid is the disruption to my lifestyle, trying to work round it and am ok with evenings so far as I dont go out at night and if I do I think I just wont take it.
I take furosemide, 20mg, in the morning and about an hour later have to go to the loo. Then again twice each about 30 m ins apart, then I am fine for the day. If I wake up early, 6.00 ish, I take it then, especially if I know I have to go out before 9.30. My cardiologist said that this was the best time for me to take it. NOt heard of anyone taking it later in the day though.
Oh goodness, I've no idea ow . I stopped taking it 6 years ago now. After a heart attack it was decided I didn't need it. I assume I started on the lowest dose but years later it was doubled. I was given it for swollen ankles. No difference since stopping it; ankles are still puffy but not bad.
They're strange these diuretics. I take both Furosemide and Spironolactone. If I'm unoccupied and at a loose end I find that toilet visits become frequent...if, on the other hand I'm busy with, say work, I find that I go hours without even the urge. Maybe there's a psychological element to these things.
Furosemide is a quick acting diuretic and the action is usually finished in 6 hours. Although most people are advised to take it in the morning it can be taken at 6 pm in the evening as the effect should be over by midnight. Also 20mg dose is quite mild. Regards.
Thanks Samarjit, I am usually clear by about 11, I did wonder if that dose is low, I think they maybe will increase if by blood tests are ok. The Doctor is worried about my kidneys as I take other medication.
I mostly take them in the morning. Admittedly at first it was a bit of a problem but my system adjusted to it and now I have a few hours in between toilet stops. Being a night owl I am often up most of the night so if I miss on a day I will sometimes take it later and still no real disruption.
