I started taking Furosemide 20mg, bisoprolol 2.5mg and candesartan 2mg at the end of June 2024. I had to stop taking Dapagliflozin 10mg as my tongue started swelling post taking this medication.
I am taking the other three daily. I have a lot of hot flushes throughout the day and I am wondering if it those medications creating these side effects. Due to my cancer I take tamoxifen and I had hot flushes after I took that medication in the evening but the hot flushes are now all day.
The dizzy spells I was getting in the evening post Candersartan have decreased.
Thanks for considering

It sounds like you are dealing with so much and I am so sorry to hear you have cancer as well
I take Bisoprolol and Candesartan I am not sure they give me any hot flushes but then we all can react differently to medications also I believe mixed with other medications as well can play a part with side effects and then of course what your health in general is like can also I believe have an impact
I would talk with your Doctor or consultants about how you are feeling as they I hope will be able to tell you what they think is the cause if it be the medications or not
I've read your bio!! Wow, you've gone through a lot!!
A lot of people with heart failure complain of sweats, some times so severe they're actually dripping with it. I don't think it's your heart meds its probably just one of those things that happens with HF sadly.
Now having said that, one of the side effects of taxoxifen is sweats, I assume you're taking this med because your cancer was/is hormonal & this suppresses the hormones the cancer feeds on. I'm far from being an expert on this but my husband also had/has a hormonal cancer & his medication caused seriously bad sweats, mostly at night in the beginning but then much more often during the day and they were very debilitating. If you have a cancer support team talk to them about the sweats, there is medication you can take that eases these considerably. Your GP will have to prescribe it but the support team will be able to tell you what to ask for. If you don't have a support team (why not!!) your oncology team will be able to advice.
I'm glad you're no longer getting dizzy spells from the candesartan, that was probably due to the med lowering your blood pressure & your body has now adjusted to that.
Good luck, I hope you manage to get something to help with the sweats but there is definitely help out there.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query. I had hot flush with the Tamoxifen but have now more throughout the day since I take me HF meds. I didn't know you could have this with HF. I will speak to the nurse about this.
have you got access to a breast cancer nurse? In my area anyone who’s had BC has lifelong access. She might advise you on the next steps. If not, your oncologist- if you are able to contact her/him x is probably the best person.
Thank you. I have spoken to the BC nurse and she advised me to take Tamoxifen late afternoon then I get hot flushes. But I have started getting hot flushes and sweat in the morning and I take my HF meds in the morning.
I’ve been thinking about your Tamoxifen. You are presumably post-menopausal so the normal medication would be Anastrazole or similar - have a look at the website of MacMillan Cancer Support - and not Tam.
I take all 3 of those, but haven't had any hot flashes. The trouble is that there are so many possible side effects, it can be difficult to decide what is causing what..
