Severe breathlessness following Discharge

Hi I had a HA last Monday, 2 stents fitted and discharged from hospital Thursday evening with a diagnosis of HF (EF 30-35%)I’ve had 2 comfortable nights done everything I was told to, I woke in the early hours fighting for every breath, it seemed to be the fluid build up I’d been told about, I propped myself up on 4 pillows which definitely eased the symptoms

I’m taking Furosemide 40mg (1 each morning) I feel very weak, any advice, should I phone the hospital or just reduce my fluids today. I appear to have put on 2lbs since yesterday morning

Thanks

Hope you are OK and have contacted the hospital, which would have also been my advice.

My fr in law had stents fitted a few years ago following a heart attack, and when we saw him the day before discharge we voiced our concerns that he was breathless which was not normal for him. We were told that the consultant had examined him just before our visit and signed him off as fit to discharge.

He came home the next day. Within 24 hours we were back on 999 again and he was blue-lighted to A and E on oxygen. After a few hours waiting, he was diagnosed with hospital acquired pneumonia and he died in hospital about a week later.

Hi I was given an emergency contact number for the heart failure nurses, I phoned and left a Message but I haven’t received a call back, they had warned me about too much fluid leading to breathlessness, I’m much better to day after a good night thanks, sorry to hear the sad story about your F in Law
