I was with Civil Service Insurance ( you don’t have to be a civil servant) but renewal went up by nearly 90%, so tried Staysure. Still a significant rise but more manageable. They do one trip and annual.
If you search holiday and/or travel insurance on this site, you'll find a lot of suggestions.
We are all different and what is good for one person might not apply to the next. So I suggest you go to a website which covers travel insurance with pre existing medical conditions and take it from there. Moneysavingsexpert has a section on this which is worth a read
I was recently on holiday Turkey). Prior to my journey, I struggled very hard and failed to get any travel insurance! I just made sure I had plenty accessible funds around me, family, friends etc, just in case anything happened. Try not to shout about it too much in case your flight gets cancelled.
Simply put we are the new untouchables, we come under the category of the black listed, no one will insure us. (if they do it's an extortionate amount). If anyone can provide any positive feed back, please get back to us.
Let me know after you return.
I use staysure - I went on a cruise 4 months post ohs and they were the most competitive - we travel to Cyprus frequently and are off to Australia next year hopefully and they have been the best priced . I get annual insurance and find them very helpful ( real people to talk to ) .
Good luck and enjoy your trip
hi. I used the “paying too much” comparison website. I have a lot of health conditions and my policy through them was half the price of Staysure.
Hi, I travel to Thailand at least twice a year. I use saga, not cheap but very comprehensive and designed for over 50’s. A friend was due to travel to Thailand and discovered Stay sure did not cover Thailand..
I always use a comparison website and they come up with some good quotes, just had1 week in Spain for £30 and could add my wife (no health issues) for an extra £10. I would imagine if you're going outside Europe or on a cruise it would be much more expensive due to repatriation if the worse happens. Always have your up to date GHIC.
what Jedi says might be a problem. In the news about four months ago was a gentleman who,had gone to turkey without any travel insurance. He was hospitalised with heart trouble and the hospital would not release him until at least half of the £80000 had been paid.
We went turkey in July I went on comparison website and just added all stuff like heart attack amount of stents and it cost me £120 for the 2 week holiday for all of us.I did check without my health conditions and it would have been £30 but better to have cover.
Hope this helps
InsuranceWith.com specialise in medical conditions
I had a STEMI HA in Jan, I went to Thailand over the summer for 2-3 weeks with my wife who also had few medical issues. We were quoted £300 which I actually thought was quite reasonable, luckily we didn't need to to use it. This was through coverforyou.com. Just bear in mind they will not cover you if you are under any investigation, it needs to be an actual diagnosis of all conditions.
