Holiday insurance questions

Hi just a few questions. I have just had 2 stents fitted, 3 days ago, my blood pressure is not high nor my cholesterol BUT i have to take these tablets as a preventative apparently. I am 51 and have a holiday in the USA booked. So far I have been quoted £1,500 for ten million medical or £1,052 for five million. I am devestated at these figures, are these figures normal? This is for a one off holiday not even a yearly policy as they would not entertain this. I have contacted Staysure and Spectrum so far. Any advice help or assistance would be much appreciated. Mny thanks.

You need a post-op period of stability before you will get reasonable quotes. When do you go on holiday? Remember at the moment you are not even allowed to drive.

Hi thanks for the response. Mid September. Do you think it will be better to wait until September?

Most definitely. If you have six weeks without issues they will more confident about insuring you.

Unfortunately insurance for the USA is always expensive (along with Spain for some reason). Try Insurancewith- we have found that their premiums are frequently lower than other companies.

If you are not going on holiday for a while, get a quote six weeks after your stents. Go on the comparison website fill all questions in and see what comes up. Until six weeks post oppp I found no one would look at it unless it was big bucks. Good luck. Have a look at all clear medical insurance. X

Try the website “Medical Travel Compared” they seek out good quotes like a heat seeking missile. In this game comparison is the name of the game and can save you lots. You have to wait for at least 6 weeks after the stents to apply for insurance, but with the above website you can keep changing the details to see how the quotes change with time...good luck and happy holidays☘️🇮🇪

Also, I did not suffer with blood pressure or high cholesterol prior to my HA but according to my gp I must answer yes to these questions on the insurance insurance screening☘️🇮🇪

I agree you should wait for six weeks then go on the comparison site. After weeks of searching for reasonable medical insurance we got a great deal from Holiday Extras who are underwritten by Allianz. Good luck and happy holidays ✈️

I’m having to check my bank travel insurance this week to declare AVR a year ago.

My friend was diagnosed with lung cancer last year too, she had part lung removed then chemo that was last September in November she went to USA to visit her daughter, she went to Boots Travel Insurance and got covered for £95. If my insurance wants outrageous amount I will try Boots, maybe worth a go. Hope you have success. Kaz✈️
