Can anyone please let me know of any insurance company for holiday insurance for a cruise I have had a heart attack in 2019 so I would appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks

Plenty of regular posts on here about travel insurance. My suggestion is to find a comparison site for travel insurance for pre existing medical conditions and go from there. Or try a local to you broker. Or consider cover via the cruise company. There is no one size fits all, since we are all different and insurance companies assess the risk differently, and so treat us differently. For example many on here recommend Staysure but they would not insure me last year whereas others would (with widely different premiums), and, apparently, Staysure can be bad on claims. But wherever you go be sure to answer truthfully and comprehensively about your health issues.
Try Travel For You; brokers who ask you a series of questions then put those details on to the market.
It`s worked well for the 1200 (or so) cardiac patients who attend the Support Group at Wythenshawe hospital. Give `em a try.
Frank.
Staysure are extremely bad in dealing with claims. I recently experienced this.
They use a company called Ergo Travel Ltd to administer the policy, and Davies Group handle claims. I believe Avanti may also use these same companies. Just something to be aware of.
Check reviews on Trustpilot first.
Staysure have been obstructive and difficult in handling my claim. Any co that says they will get back to you within 15 working days needs avoiding as it completely disrupts any flow of information
Staysure pass the buck to Ergo Travel who pass the buck to Davies Group, who handle the claim.
After 3 months Davies Group upheld my complaint about their poor shoddy service and offered £75 compensation. I declined and referred the case to the Financial Ombudsman.
My claim for over £10,000 was reimbursed after 3 months. I had to use my savings in the interim. Apparently it will take months before the FOS decide on an outcome, but I don’t mind waiting for hopefully some justice.
I had to make a claim with Staysure last year and they were actually quite efficient once I had submitted the claim. The delay was trying to get my doctor to complete the medical form (that took 4 months)! I had to claim due to have a HA. I’ve just taken out a new policy with no problem, but it is more than double what I paid pre HA!
Many cruise companies (for example Cunard), stipulate particularly high repatriation limits. Most normal holiday insurance won't give anywhere near these repatriation amounts. So check the cruise company's requirements and make sure your policy delivers.
Enjoy your cruise!
I've just booked my first holiday including a cruise post heart procedure. I went with Admiral although found it on a price comparison site. Was pleasantly surprised at the price given my long list of conditions. Happy holidays
Very interesting re Admiral. I held an existing travel policy with them and when I disclosed a new health condition (AF) they would insure me anymore. Their underwriting refused me due to my new AF diagnosis. This was for a world wide policy, but wanted to share my Admiral experience as I’ve spoken with a couple of others who had the same thing happen. Enjoy your travels this year.
Hi we have been on several cruises with different cruise lines and my husband has had two heart attacks, bladder cancer and also has mild C.O.P.D. At first we used paying too much for our insurance now we use comparison sites and have never had any problems however we have not made a claim so can’t comment on that. We have used Avanti a few times and we’re happy with the premium considering my husbands health issues. Don’t know about now though since I’ve recently had a triple heart bypass so our travel insurance will probably go through the roof 😩😂 not put it to the test yet but will be soon. Good luck and enjoy your cruise, where are you off to ?
I had HA in September and we are cruising at Easter, I've used Stay Sure, cheapest I could find but still expensive
I returned from a cruise yesterday. I have permanent Afib and microvascular disease, plus I’m waiting for spinal surgery. Quotes for travel insurance varied widely. I settled on Saga insurance. We cruised with Saga and would probably have been ok with the included insurance plus an additional premium but we chose instead to take out a separate Saga policy. Speaking to others on the same cruise, most had the included policy. Whichever company you choose to travel with, check the cover is sufficient. Someone on our cruise needed helicopter evacuation because of an emergency health condition. Enjoy your cruise, mine did me so much good, my Afib which had been constant for over 6 months actually went back into sinus rhythm for about 5 days whilst we were away. Sadly now I’m home it’s gone back into Afib.
Hi, I had a heart attack 4 years ago, had to be resuscitated, had stent fitted, we go abroad & use co op travel insurance, it costs me £38.00, cheapest I've found, hope this helps.
Sorreee, I meant `Cover For You` and NOT travel for you. Oops.
Cover For You is a specialist broker. It sends a questionnaire which you fill in. It then scours the market for rates. Good experiences at Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester.
