Hi all, I hoping to talk to someone who has experienced a heart attack
My husband had one in July and had 3 stents fitted.
Thank goodness he’s ok however I was wondering if anyone had dizziness after and if so for how long. He’s on a lot of tablets but I’ve read Ticagrelor can cause dizziness he’s on 90mg twice a day. Has anyone experienced this but found it wore off after time or was an ongoing thing
Any advice is appreciated
Many thanks

If you and your husband believe he is suffering from dizziness which could be a known common side effect from taking Ticagrelor, the recommended NHS course of action is 'Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if these side effects bother you or do not go away'. And if the dizzy spells are likely to affect judgment and are a distraction I would certainly recommend not driving .
Thank you, we’ve spoken to cardiac rehab who just say it’s common but was wondering if anyone’s had experience of it easing off after time. GP no help just tells you to go A&E
They come on so randomly, always check his blood pressure standing up and sitting down and it’s fine
I just feel very helpless
Hi Been there done that🤓 I was prescribed Ticagrelor and a mountain of other meds. Unfortunately I also experienced dizzy spells. But if it's the Ticagrelor or one of the others I cannot tell. As some say can make you dizzy. I was told get up slowly, when feeling dizzy sit or lay down. I've been on Ticagrelor course for 4 years and it's my last 5 days. 😁So it will be interesting to see what I feel like. Could always mention to Doctor/Consultant. ❤
I am not on those tablets but am on Calcium Channel Blockers and bisropolol and I used to be very dizzy on them, but it seems to have disappeared now and I think that’s most probably the same as with all heart meds.
hi I had two hear attacks in May and was put in ticagrelor and my perindoprol , a blood pressure medication was increased to 4mg .about a month afterwards . I immediately experienced dizziness and GP told me it was perindoprol was causing it and to take it at night which I’ve done and dizziness stopped . If your husband is on perindoprol I’d try that .
For advice it's better to try calling your husband's cardiologist or heart failure nurse regarding the dizziness. I expect they gave out the doze which may need reviewed. Or call the British Heart Foundation nurses who are very helpful.
I was on Ticagrelor for 12 months after my HA and 2 stents, I suffered some bouts of dizziness, normally, but not always, when getting up from a sitting or lying position, it was fairly easy to manage by taking things slowly when standing up from these positions. It subsided after coming off the Ticagrelor, it still happens but rarely.Report it to your doctor or cardiologist so they can rule out anything more sinister.
I had to change from ticagrelor to clopidogrel because of side effects. Not dizziness for me but a feeling that I couldn't take a proper breath - as if I had asthma. ( I didn't; my sats were fine but the gasping for breath made me panic) If the dizziness is really bothering him ask your doctor to change it.
I had similar experiences after my stents! What I found was that my BP dropped very low. Once I got this under control the dizziness went away. So keep an eye on BP, keep monitoring daily, initially every few hours.
I had to speak to my GP about it and he said to lay off the BP tablets for a few days, that worked.
