I had a pacemaker in 2020 for tachycardia bradycardia and heart pauses , the pauses were the main reason as they were getting longer and more frequent , The last few weeks I’ve been getting very sudden dizzy spells where I go really off balance and have to stop myself from falling . They only last a couple of seconds then I’m fine , I notice them more if I’m rushing around . Last pacemaker check was fine so hoping it’s not heart related . Has anyone experienced dizziness after getting a pacemaker ?

Brief moments of dizziness
like you I had my pm fitted in 2020 and after the initial settling in period had no issues until the week before the August bank holiday just gone. A sensation in my chest and severe dizziness, ended up in AE twice . The second time I was admitted as my heart was going from 60 bpm to 130 bpm (which are my pm settings )even though I was sitting still. Something had changed with my several heart conditions and the pm wasn’t seeing some of the beats so gave me extra beats which was causing the dizziness. They have increased my bisoprolol and tweaked some settings in my pm. It’s a bit better but think I need some more tweaking.
I suffer those spells at times, not as strong to get me off balance but definitely dizzy.
Like you have a pacemaker (mine is defibrillator too).
After talking about them to the electrophysiology team and testing my pacemaker and checking the recordings, they had to conclude that I either feel the extra beats that happen in my ventricles (nothing that can be done there) or maybe it is not heart related dizziness.
Best thing is that you talk to your cardiac nurses /electrophysiology team so they can exclude any serious issues with the heart rhythm/valve issues.
All the best!
I've had my PM for 3 years now and all is well, but I remember getting the odd dizzy spell during the first 6 months or so. It seems to take a while for the body to adapt.
You say that you suffer from tachycardia - so have you noticed whether the episodes of dizziness are associated with high heart rate. A pacemaker can increase your heart rate and deal with missed beats, but it can't deal with tachycardia.
The regular pacemaker checks are only to check that the pacemaker is working properly - not to check that you are working properly. If you are really concerned, your GP or cardiologist may be able to help. You don't want to have a dizzy spell if you are driving!
I had a pacemaker fitted as a back up to the Bisoprolol I was taking which causes heart pauses and low heart rate. I suffered with dizziness etc for ove. A year and it was discovered it was caused the bisoprolil
