Mixed messages from nurses
Sorry you've been through this. The right hand never seems to know what the left hand is doing at the weekend and it's usually pretty slow.
Sometimes you get discharged, sometimes you find you don't get discharged until Monday morning when a particular Consultant is available to give the go ahead even if you were well enough to be discharged.
Just try and rest while you are there , you need it.
It might be worth asking them to refer you to your Migraine clinic before your discharge explain about the Cluster Headaches and Migraines and that you want to see about getting therapies like oxygen therapy for them.
My Tachycardia and episodes of Migraines and Cluster episodes are tightly linked.
I don't get any relief from Triptans when my cluster episodes are caused by my cardiac problems or circulation.
I was put on daily oxygen therapy for Cluster Headaches (just 20 minutes each morning) plus oxygen use when an attack feels like it will begin.
It's improved blood flow to my heart and brain and reduced the amount of cluster headaches and migraines I get and their duration by around 50%.
My autonomic heart symptoms have also improved with this treatment.
There are various health issues which means you can be prescribed oxygen therapy on the NHS , and Cluster episodes is one of them.
So it's worth asking about.
When you get home message me and I can send you links to the right forms which your GP can also organise without further tests, or the Neurology or Migraine Clinic in your local area can do extra tests and sort it out for you.
Hope things improve soon , Bee
Finally got some one to tell me I'm being transferd to cardiac ward just waiting for a bed x
Sorry to hear you are having problems Yumz and hope you will soon be feeling better. Once you get a bed you should be looked after very well and they will really give you a good check up and give you the help that you need right now. It’s all the tiring stuff you have to go through before and feeling unwell at the same time. Sending every good wish with love and prayers.
Ahh thank you x I have been moved to another ward while waiting for bed on cardiac ward.
How frustrating!
Hi Yumz,
I’ve seen that you have done a couple of posts but thought I’d respond to your most recent one. I’m sorry to hear you have felt worse over the last couple of days and that you’re in hospital now. I hope they keep you in a little longer if they can just so that you can have all the correct testing and hopefully a treatment plan drawn up before you leave. Weekends always tend to be slower at the hospital and a fewer consultants on call.
Keep us updated.
Tos xx
hello Yumz are you any further on? or is it a question of knowing more once your on the cardiac ward - do hope you get some answers soon take care xx
I'm still waiting for a bed on cardiac ward and still don't know much all I do know is I've had a terrible night and morning, palpitations where on another level, chest pain, sickness sweating all at once feel so rubbish x
Hi Yumz, sorry to hear that you are feeling so unwell. Hopefully you will get answers soon and start to feel better. I've always found it impossible to sleep at night when in hospital it's hardly a peaceful place to rest!
Oh I'm so sorry to hear you aren’t doing well and in hospital, lack of sleep makes everything 100 times worse hope things improve soon and they get you sorted. X
I know it’s frustrating but you’re in the best place for now so just rest until they decide.
Take care
Wendy xx
I had a last minute discharge delay and stayed overnight - due to a more urgent case having priority for a last echo.
Was pleased in retrospect as I just slept and slept. Remember recovery is not a sprint more a marathon !!
Best wishes. PLH
Glad you are still there I hope you have a better night tonight and they get you sorted out properly tomorrow
It is reasonable for clinical teams to ensure the patient is kept informed. If they continue to give mix messages ask yo speak with the Matron. Hopefully that will resolve the issues. Too many times I hear ward staff are inconsistent with information for patients. Youhave a right to good consistent patient care.
Just wanted to update you guys I'm on the cardiac ward now the ACU and I have no own room which I'm happy about x will keep you updated when I know more.
Another update : had echo, and ecg, I'm on cardiac monitor and have on holter monitor since bout 3 this afternoon. Having bloods done tomorrow to check BNP levels for heart failure or stroke x will update you once I know more.
Fingers crossed for positive results x
