co-amilofruse

Hoping someone can give some advice.

My partner had a double CABG eight weeks ago. After the surgery he was put on co-amilofruse, to be reviewed at his follow-up with the surgeon. Prior to the surgery he was on furosemide.

We understand that co-amilofruse is a diuretic and will obviously cause him to urinate frequently. However, this is continuing all day and night, which wasn’t the case with furosemide, which tapered off after taking the tablet in the morning.

Has anyone any advice/experience to offer? We will raise it with the surgeon at the follow-up next week, but it would be helpful to know of other people’s experience with it.

Many thanks.

Hello :-)

These medications can sometimes cause this I actually was on furosemide after my triple Bypass and I got the same happening as your partner is now it actually became painful as well but I spoke with my Doctor and they took me of it and put me on something else which solved the problem

I hope when he goes to his appointment if it is still happening they will try him on something different and if he cannot wait till then maybe make an appointment to speak with his Doctor

Let us know how he gets on :-) x

Thanks for responding BeKind28-

We saw the surgeon a couple of days ago and he agreed to take him off the co-amilofruse. Hopefully he won’t need any diuretics now, but we have to keep an eye on things. Our next ‘battle’ is getting the GP to reduce the dosage of bisoprolol.

It’s nine weeks now since his CABG and he does seem to have turned a corner. In fact he’s out in his car as we speak!

Thanks again for responding, I really appreciate it.

Hello :-)

I am glad they have agreed ti take him of them he should feel better for that

I had to reduce my Bisoprolol even though that was the one med they have never allowed me to come of but on the reduced dose I cope better so hopefully they will let your Husband reduce it and he will to :-)

So pleased to hear he is in the car and gone out he certainly is turning a corner :-)

So pleased things are getting better for him :-) x
