Hello :-)

I think you have posted a few times as your last experience of coming of a med was not very pleasant and now I think you fear coming of this very small dose of Bisoprolol as your mind is taking over it could be as bad but this is just a small dose and to be honest not one that really affects people very much as it is so small a dose

My Husband was on a higher dose and he just stopped it and he was fine as I believe others are when they stop it at such a low strength as yours is

I know what reassurance feels like when you need it so much but I also know that sometimes all the reassurance someone can give us will not take that fear away and so when I have found myself in similar situations as you are I just as I say go for it any side effects will soon pass if there were any and you will be of the med

Also as your Doctors suggested to stop taking it then you need to listen to them as they would have never told you to if they thought it was not right for you :-)

I really hope you will soon be posting and will have managed to come of it :-) x

Hello :-)

You have replied to me and not the poster but they should still see your reply :-)

If you go on the posters profile you will see that there Consultant has told them to stop it they have done a few posts on stopping Bisoprolol

I have to just say though please talk with your Doctors or Consultant about your meds and always make sure they are happy for you to stop anything for me I have been told no I have to take Bisoprolol so always ask first before you stop anything :-) x

I was on 2.5mg bisoprolol, which was then divided into 1.25mg twice a day, then reduced that to 1 a day, then I cut those in half for a week an then stopped,no problems at all then

I was on 1.25mg, developed dry eye and went ‘cold turkey’ as it were. No issues at all coming off the drug.

Hi Tachijay, I was prescribed 5mg of Bisoprorol after an NSTEMI, which caused my pulse to drop far too low. As a consequence, it led to chest pain and a visit to A/E where it was found I had raised troponin levels. It was reduced to 2.5 then 1.25 and eventually I had to come off altogether. I suffered tachycardia, maybe for just over a week, then everything calmed down. I hope your withdrawal symptoms aren’t too bad. I felt a lot better after a couple of weeks and was able to improve my exercise levels. Best wishes.

Everyone is different! I was on 1.25 after not tolerating 2.50. Withdrawal pretty bad even on small amount. GP said I would have no issues but should have tapered. It is only now after four weeks that the bad days are not so severe and there are more good ones. Reflexology can help. Take care and good luck.

I took 4 months to come down from 7.5mg/day. Each time I reduced the dose I'd stay there until things settled before reducing again. It wasn't a straight line decrease either. The reductions at the lower doses took longer. So 7.5 to 5 was easy, 2.5 to 1.25 my heart had a wobble. I tried to stop completely after being at 1.25 for 3 weeks and after a few days my heart was all over the place as the adrenaline receptors woke up so I took 1.25 every other day, then every 3 days etc and stretched it out. I went 9 weeks without medication then had a dental anaesthetic that kicked everything off and I had to take 1.25 for 2 days then stopped again. I went another 4 weeks without meds then a really stressful situation arose and things kicked off again, this time just 1.25 sorted it. Seems I'm extremely sensitive to adrenaline.

I was prescribed 2.5 mg for a month to see what happened. I got quite a lot dizziness so the Dr didn't renew my prescription. I just stopped taking it with no side effects at all. You may be worrying unnecessarily.

I was on only 1.25mg. Went to one tablet every other day for a week and then stopped. Had no issues. My GP hadn't suggested tapering, but it seemed like a good idea.

I don't think this can advise you on anything because I simply stopped taking it. No problems whatsoever. YOu are now on a really tiny dose so I think you should get over your fear, not expect ill effects and just stop it.
