As some of you may remember, I've been having a couple of brothers from a couple of houses away helping me in the garden. Well yesterday, Saturday, as it was a little cooler in the morning, Ralph said he'd like to try mowing the back grass. I was very nervous but he said that I can't wrap him in bubble wrap and promised if it was too much he'd stop, as he has no desire to be back in hospital. So, I agreed but insisted that I get the mower out and put back and empty the grass box. He had 3 separate sit downs to get his breath back, but he finished it! I emptied the grass box 3 times as well. The neighbours son came again and did the front grass.
Ralph used to do them both on one day, but says now he hopes to do them alternate weeks.
He says he had no pain at all and just needed to get his breath back. In my opinion that obviously because he has a tracheostomy which makes it harder to breathe especially if it's hot weather.
He never ceases to amaze me, my superhero π

This is FANTASTIC!! Ralph really is amazing. I LOVE your shares. It's great of you to keep them going! I bet he enjoyed his meal after that gardening πHappy Days, both of you, and fond love. XX
He actually had roast chicken dinner today, no blending, mashed potato no roasties until his new teeth are ready. He's been given the okay to eat basically anything as long as he has small pieces and chews it well. Can't believe how much he's improving since coming home....6 weeks tomorrow π
It literally lifts my heart and makes me smile and cheer. I can't wait for Ralph's new teeth so he can savour those roast potatoes! I can only try to imagine how precious and joyous all of this is after the battle you've both won to regain life itself. Woolly mammoth hugs!! π€π€
Reading that has made my eyes water, thinking how precious life is and how well Ralph has done. Shame there ain't no Olympic medals for mowing the lawn! β€οΈ π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±.
I mention the Olympics because of the herculean efforts of Ralph to pull through. There is not a metal on this planet that could in any way match Ralph's achievement, but I do think Sue, his wife, deserves a gold. The fact that they are both now at home is just a celebration of life itself. Nothing matches the power of love. β€οΈ
You are right. It is thrilling isn't it? People's endeavours, and above all their love. It must be a terrific silent majority on this planet. It's a privilege when we get to see it and share in it. A toast to Love, in all it's many forms! ππ«π
He certainly is a superhero. I can't do that now myself but that's because of my spine. I pay a young man to cut our tiny back lawn but last week while strimming the edge, he hit a tiny tiny stone which shot back and utterly smashed the conservatory door. Β£200 for a new pane of toughened glass. Thankfully his problem,. not ours but very difficult clearing up sharp glass right where the dog has to go out and bits keep dropping o ut from the edges whenever we shut the door.
No just very shocked especially the lad who did it because he's not insured! and it's the second time this has happened in the past 5 weeks. He's going to have to use a half moon edger when he's near windows. Luckily only the outer pane of the double glazing smashed so we are still waterproof. I'm relieved he offered to pay. If it hadn't cost so much I'd have gone halves but the following day our upstairs saniflo toilet packed up and blew the fuses- Β£700 quoted to replace just the pump;( I have someone else coming tomorrow) husband's car needs a timing belt and I'd just booked for the front of the house to be re-rendered.
Well I think Ralph is just showing of now and putting me to shame
No seriously I think you should get all your posts you have done from start to finish and get this for a better word story out there for others to be able to see as the people that will find themselves in Ralphs position regretfully this would give them so much hope and show them miracles do happen as he is just that a miracle and having you by his side there was no way he was not going to get home and now mowing the lawn to x
wow, you are both an inspiration. You just keep going from strength to strength. It sounds like the new teeth will allow more menu options. Super delighted for you both x
hi Sue snd Ralph, wow I cannot believe how far you have come since the last post I read. Cutting grass and eating real proper food, I wonder Ralph how that must feel did it taste as good as you remembered? So pleased for you both, do everything you can Ralph but please listen to your body and do not overdo it. I canβt wait to read what a fabulous Christmas you will have xx
thatβs fantastic , and to think you were so worried about his lack of motivation when he first came home . Sounds like it was a confidence thing and heβs getting his mojo back
I need Ralph's Gardening Services Ltd to remove some top branches on my tree and the hedge could do with a trim. Also, does he carry out power washing? The paviors in our courtyard are very dirty.
Good news on all this. Will get easier as he gets used to doing more things and the weather cools.
Did you ever find out if his breathing is affected by high/low humidity?
When I think back to reading your first few posts to what I read now!!.....fabulous news once again and so lovely to hear how uplifted you are by Ralph's progress. He just needed to be home . You've both had some dark days but looks at how bright they are now for you. So pleasing to read. Xx
It just shows Ralph's determination again & this is undoubtedly what's got him home & where he is today along with you too Sue. It really is heart warming to have followed this journey, from the traumatic set backs at the beginning to the normality of the gardening & Sunday roasts π I absolutely love your posts so thank you again for keeping us updated. They really inspirational for us all π₯° Carolyn xx
Brilliant news. Tell Ralph he is superman π¦Έand should feel very proud of himself. But it's because of your love and undying devotion that has gotten him to where he is now whilst having health problems yourself. Plus Ralph's undying love and devotion to you. You truly are eachothers other halves. And that's something to be cherished.
Hi Sue what a fantastic achievement in such a short time from getting home from hospital, Ralph has really came on leaps and bounds especially doing such a physical job as cutting the grass that's amazing, I am so happy for both of you after what you came through, what a team you are β€οΈ char xx
Great news. Well done both of you. You can tell Ralph that it is much better for the planet to mow every other week. It gives the small flowers like clover, and self-heal to grow which is excellent for insects as well as saving on energy mowing. Much better than having what I call a green desert out there
Wow! Ralph is definitely amazing! I can hardly believe that he is back mowing the lawn after all that he has faced and come through in such a short time period. Truly amazing! π
I am over the moon for both of you, and I will look forward to reading about many new milestones in the months to come. Do remind Ralph to not overdo things in the heat!
