Apparently there's a new surge in covid. I know a few people from work who have caught it.
I really didn't give a monkeys about it before, I took my jabs, i was fit and strong, I kept away from my dad who was undergoing chemo, I kept away from the elderly and frail.
But, and it's a very big but I have read that covid causes inflammation of the blood vessels and some cardiologists do think some cardiac events could be caused by it.
I had covid for the first time a month before my heart attack and I got it really badly and I wonder was that a contributing factor? ie the straw that broke the camels back?
Should I, we be worried about it? Is there any guidance on it any further research?
Recent statistics here: ukhsa-dashboard.data.gov.uk... Not as high as in June 2023, which was followed by a dip in July. I'm still a little puzzled that never once in many meetings with medical staff over the past 18 months was I asked if I'd had Covid. (I haven't.) OK, in some, but not all, cases they could have accessed my medical records.
I admit to having almost forgotten about Covid, not that I do much mingling, but might get twitchy if I was a crowded Underground train.
Covid's effects on individuals is very hard to predict from my experience. At the start of the Covid wave I got the first 2 Covid shots and several months after I got Covid. I was in bed for around 5 days and it really knocked me around. At the time I was on low doses of Flecainide and Digoxin. My heart missed a few beats but about a month or 2 later I got AF and had to go to Emergency and have a Cardioversion. Then a couple of months later I was in Emergency again having another Cardioversion. After these 2 episodes my Cardiologist booked me in for an Ablation which has been reasonably successful touch wood.
My opinion is that Covid may have caused my 2 AF episodes. To add to this I had another bout of Covid 9 months after my Ablation. This time my heart went out of rhythm for short periods of time over a 3/4 day period. Because of this I was put on antivirals and my feeling of being unwell from the Covid lasted up to several weeks later. I also had regular ectopic beats episodes for several months after the Covid.
All through my Covid episodes my wife was in the house with me ( she was up to date with her Covid Vaccinations as was me) but never contracted Covid and during my second bout never wore a mask when she was around me. This to me shows Covid is so unpredictable on how it affects a person as I'm the fit one who has a good diet.
I have heard there is a bit about but it could be just around here or anecdotal. But I get the impression that people would rather not talk about so it can go away.
It was suggested at the time of my heart attack and triple bypass in July 2020 it was covid related as not long before I had had it quite bad.
I vividly remember the comment by the surgeon doing the angiogram, when I was rushed to hospital, that he had never seen clots this big before and asking me was it ok to take a picture of the one they managed to get out!
My husband's EP believes it was COVID that caused him to have a VT storm last year followed by several hospital stays because of further VT's & several different types of arrythimias, an urgent cardioversion which failed, and then an urgent prolonged & invasive ablation after which his ICD shocked him twice. It's also worsened his heart failure from mild to severe! The EP said they were seeing more & more of these types of health problems. Whilst we don't let COVID take over our lives we're very much aware of it & try to avoid crowded places if possible.
i can't comment about any links with covid but I can certainly tell you there is alot of covid about.. several members of my family have it or have had it. Daughter spent 3 days in a conference with 30 others - half from the USA - all but 2 got covid. My daughter tested + for 8 days. Niece came to visit from Australia - went down with covid, same as friend over from Italy and all this in the in the last 2 weeks
That’s debatable. But Roy thank you for answering however there are others who take offence to people asking certain questions about this subject and like most things on this forum nobody are experts and should not give advice only reflect on experience to give others hope and for every cause there are two sides to every situation except this one and we are expected to just roll over and accept the word from the beast. Thank you again for this conversation but as for everything else I’m signing out and all those who are solely dependent on big pharma are welcome to it.
No problem Come2jesus, but having a friend of 44 with no heart issues, who had Covid (said he never felt so bad in all his life, and thought he was going to die) and he took a year to get back to his racing form I will do anything to keep the Covid at bay.
At my age feel I need all the help I can get. I know my AF is nothing to do with the jabs as I had AF a long time before Covid came along. I'm an Atheist so believe in self help only, and the research that the scientists do is the only defence I believe in. That and a good diet and plenty of exercise.
Again thank you for replying our close friend was adamant she would not comply with what was going on but work pressured her into having one and 4 weeks later at the age of 43 had a massive brain clot and passed. Respect your thinking
All the best
I have covid at the moment having returned from France on Monday? Feel dreadful despite 7 vaccinations? Had a pacemaker fitted in March - have been told cases definitely rising so take care everyone
