My husband tested negative for COVID 24 hours before admittance. He came through the surgery very well and I was surprised to hear from him at 7 oclock the next morning. Then 2 days later he tested positive. Now very worried about pneumonia which can be fatal. He has been told he will have to stay another week but at the moment he is not allowed to leave his room so is not getting good exercise. I have now tested positive as had the other person who has accompanied us. I am wondering if anyone else on here was in a similar position.

COVID while recovering from triple bypass surgery
I’ve not been in a similar position but I do hope you both recover soon from Covid and your husband is able to come home to continue his recovery from surgery.
I'm so sorry your husband was infected by some hospital worker. I was disappointed and very concerned when staff at hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices and nursing homes stopped wearing masks while caring for a vulnerable population. I didn't think it was too much to ask these healthcare workers to mask up when taking care of us patients. In my state of Massachusetts we're still averaging over 20 Covid deaths per week.
Thank you. It seems that it's been decided that as only the ill and old are likely to badly affected by the virus no precautionary measures are necessary.
Sounds like the covid was taken into hospital with you with that rapid timescale.
As it is all the three travelling companions, you probably took the infection into the hospital yourselves. I'm sure they will keep monitoring (and testing) your husband to ensure all is well with his recovery.
Don't worry about his lack of exercise, I was too ill for exercise for 6 days but the physios will get him up to speed as soon as they can with relevant exercises. He won't be the first they have dealt with in this situation and probably not the last.
Very reassuring thank you. I also wanted to say a huge thank you for your private message wishing him well. It was very kind of you to remember us. His physio at the moment has him marching on the spot which does go someway to helping.
No problem, you are both in my thoughts and I hope you both feel better very soon. It's a long distance between you especially when you want to be together at this stressful time.I said to my physio "your not going to bully me, are you?" to which the answer was "that's my job!" But she was the first to notice that I wasn't as well as first thought. They all do look out for our welfare and best recovery.
Looking forward to hearing when he's back here with you in Cornwall.
Hi the last time I had COVID I was given anti viral meds and I was absolutely fine, maybe as he is in hospital they will prescribe them for him. wishing him a speedy recovery. Char
