Hello allJust a general question to solve my curiosity. Has anyone who has been prescribed Dapagliflozin ever had an issue with elevated haemocrit?

Many thanks.

My husband take dapagliflozin but his hematocrit is always low. But it's been low, along with his haemoglobin, red cells etc for years before he was taking this. However his ferritin is too high which rules out and iron infusion sadly

Hi LezzersWas asking because my haemocrit has increased year on year since the three years I commenced on Dapagliflozin and the patient info leaflet states increase in blood figures is a common side affect.

Cheers

George.

Hi George

That's interesting. I don't think my husband has read the info sheet, he usually leaves it up to me to check these things & I haven't read it either 🤣 my husband has been on dapagliflozin a couple of years, maybe longer, so it's slightly concerning that his bloods are all still below normal. Have you spoken to your cardiologist/ GP about this?

Never seen a cardiologist/GP for 5 years since being signed off. My Consultant Haemotologist disputes it? Apologies of any spelling errors.

Are you saying your haematologist disputes the dapagliflozin has increased your haemocrit ?(Don't worry bout spelling, I can't even pronounce some of my husband's medication!) Was it your haematologist who put you on dapagliflozin?

Yes he disputes it as a side effect. Put on it remotely by cardiologist.

Oh right. Maybe you could show him the patient info leaflet? I just did a quick Google about it but tbh most of what I found has gone straight above my head!!

Good luck, I hope you get to the bottom of it, I'd be interested in knowing how you get on.

I’ve been on dap for about 3 years. My hematocrit levels are mid point. I was put on it to help my type two diabetes but my heart consultant sees it as a heart drug

Apologies I should have added on my initial post I'm not diabetic. Thanks for all your replies.
