Dapagliflozin

Hi all, has anyone been put on the new wonder drug dapagliflozin for heart failure that’s just been passed for use in December in the UK ?

It will be interesting to see if any patient has been changed from Entresto to Dapagliflozin I see my Heart Nurse 1st March it will be interesting to hear what she has to say about it .

I have been prescribed it, but have in addition to Entresto, not instead of it

How are you getting on with the Dapa and Entresto blend?

Absolutely fine. A bit lightheaded in the mornings but I think that started before the medication adjustment.

The Heart Failure Nurse warned that I might develop cystitis but so far so good.

I am waiting to go on it and yes I have been warned about the Urinary Tract Infections. The advice I have been given is to drink a glass of water in the mornings and at night.

My main issues are breathlessness and tiredness. Was this the same with you? Did Dapa help?

I didn’t have any issues. I was just put on it because it was a new drug and my consultant and heart failure nurse wanted to try it out. I’ve been on just about every medication relating to AF, HF and DCM over the years and seem to be on a suitable balance for my needs atm.

I live in Scotland and we haven't even started rolling this out yet....grrrrr!
