Apple recommends keeping the iPhone 12 and 13 at least 15 centimeters away from pacemakers, raising safety concerns among people with implanted medical devices. A study conducted by Thoralf Niendorf’s lab at the MDC, along with researchers from Charité, shows these fears are unfounded

My wife (75) had her pacemaker fitted last November. When she spoke to her cardiologist about magnetic field risk he said this: ‘if you own an induction hub, you would have to lie on top of it before there as any risk to the pacemaker. Worst case it would just reset the device to its factory settings’. He was though adamant that she would have to give up high power arc welding! A small price to pay for a device that is stopping her from losing consciousness due to heart pauses.

Hi L8Again

Thanks you made me have a giggle about laying on top of the induction hob and arc welding !!

Take care

Hi I’ve had a CRT-D and have used IPhone for years with no problems. I just don’t ever hold it on my left side.

You will do after a while. At first I kept forgetting. I had a CRT-P before for 8 yrs so I’m use to holding it on the right side now.

Hiya. I have had a pacemaker for 3 years now and am very wary of anything that may affect it. I go nowhere near our induction hob. Also never have my remote car keys in a pocket near it. I do not have an iPhone but any bluetooth device I am wary of. Even in the opticians I asked about the machine that checks your vision. I dont take any chances and ask about everything. Better safe than sorry.

Hallo Chuck. Got a defrillator inside my chest. Ask the medics about ANYTHING electrical because they can interfere with the workings.

My group was told to keep mobiles a couple of feet away, NOT to push - start cars (haha) and be careful of microwaves. That was in 2011. I still do that, but times change as does technology.

Before I left Manchester we were shown a new device meant for under the arm; designed with women in mind, no doubt, as it was less intrusive. Mmm.

Frank.

Good Morning Kwakkers

Thanks for that off for the Pacemaker this morning. I will ask about anything electrical today.

The device that goes under the arm sounds interesting !! I will try not to push any cars as well

Take care

I have a pacemaker and if you put your phone to your left ear, learn to use the right. If the phone isn't 6 inches away from the pacemaker, it can affect it. I have a booklet when I had my pacemaker and all the information will be in there. There are a number of things you shouldn't go near now you have one.

I had my pacemaker fitted 6 months ago . the advice I had was do not keep phone in your breast pocket, use it in your right hand. No specific phone was mentioned.
