Hello
I have not had stents but Bypasses
With all the medications I do get indigestion and heartburn so I think it could be to do with the meds
Maybe you could have a medication review and see if one of your meds is prone to cause indigestion and if so see if there is an alternative
If you have to stay on the meds you are on your Doctor can always either up the medication they have given you for your heartburn or even try you on another one so I would book an appointment so you can see what they can do as you have tried this and it is not working
Let us know how you get on x
Do you think it could be the meds if you were put on new ones at the same time as the stents?
Hi Shrink77, I haven't got a stent, however after open heart surgery to repair a hole a year ago I too suffer heartburn. I find Gaviscon tablets great for a quick relief. Best wishes.
I suggest you speak with your GP since as others have said it is likely that you are suffering as a result of other medication you are taking. You might also find there are some foods which don't help your situation so keep a food diary so you can avoid them. Look out for bloating foods e.g onions, relaxing foods e.g coffee and chocolate, acidic foods citrus and tomatoes, and of course spicy foods. And avoid large meals and leave 3 hours before your last meal and when you go to bed
Hi I don't have stents but after my surgery I suffered terrible heartburn, my consultant prescribed, along with lanzoprazole a med called famotidine. It is brilliant I have never suffered since I started taking it. Char
Worth double checking with GP since heart pain can present as heartburn although you shouldn't be having any problems after stents.
Clopridogrel is usually a source of heartburn (if prescribed) and is generally accompanied by Lanzoprazole (or similar) to counteract the effects, but aspirin can also cause digestive issues. Taking your meds with food (unless medically advised otherwise) can help. It is unpleasant but hopefully some of the advice you've received will help. Good luck.
